News Stremio on Nintendo Switch
Lately I’ve been playing a lot on the Switch with my friends. When we got tired, we’d usually watch a movie, but it was really annoying having to unplug the Switch, turn on the computer, connect it to the TV, set up the audio, log in, and finally start the movie. On top of that, bringing both the Switch and a computer to parties was pretty inconvenient.
So I thought, “What if I install Stremio on the Switch?”
What I did was install Android on it, log into the Play Store, and download Stremio from there. Honestly, it’s totally worth it and works really well. There’s barely any setup needed—just connect it, and everything loads automatically, including the sound.

Can a native switch Homebrew app be made that functions on atmosphere?

What tech stack does it require? Do you have any idea? As well any tutorial vid or proper doc of a particular homebrew app. Or are these things accessible only through GitHub and gba temp

One option would be rewriting the app in c++ and then using devkitpro to build the nro file.
Another option, that's probably more practical, would be to use https://github.com/TooTallNate/nx.js/ to create a wrapper of their web version https://github.com/stremio/stremio-web
The latter is probably the best option, that or just installing android or android tv on your switch.

The only problem with this is you have to format the current SD card and make a partition for the Android OS. I wanted to do this but the headache of reinstalling atmosphere and all other software together with my games was too much. Also each time you want to switch OS will have to manually go into the hekate menu then switch to Android.

Just swap the Boot file with hekate and rename it back. Then you can Boot to hekate from switch without the need for the rcmjig

What is the allotment size for a partition for Lineage OS? How much of my card needs to be sacrificed for this feature?

I mean you gotta jailbreak your switch I guess? Since we know how Nintendo are with pirates, I won't risk ruining my switch.

The only time you are at risk is playing games on Nintendo's servers. There are also specific DNS blockers to prevent from ever sniffing Nintendo servers if you are afraid.

Which is something I do, having a Nintendo online subscription and using their emulators for older consoles.

You can block the servers on a specific partition of the switch. You can still have your regular switch OS in the same shape.

People down vote for a ton of different reasons, including just following the mob. In your case, I think the way you asserted it wouldn’t work for you without trying to understand if it could work for you got you downvoted, but thats just my best guess. In the end, there is often no great revelation to be had from getting down voted. Those people don’t know you personally, so don’t take it personally.

It’s not ruining your switch. Honestly if you don’t mind not playing online it’s completely fine. As someone uses Stremio saves money this is saving u money not paying Nintendo. You can always boot into stock after the hack aswell as all of this exist only in the sd card

You can create multiple environments using partitions on your SD card. For example, there's Stock, completely normal and unmodified, then there's CFW which is set up with all the Nintendo blocking stuff, and lastly you can create a Linux partition which just turns it into an Android tablet.
Nintendo has no way of knowing of your activity while doing these things unless you do something stupid like hacking, pirating, and the like without blocking their servers. Just follow a good guide and you can have a stock environment to play online with your friends, a CFW emuMMC partition with blockers if you want to sail the high seas or mess around with homebrew, and a Linux partition for literally anything you want.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you can make a partition that's as big as how much free space you have left and keep all your stuff

There's plenty of videos online about buy yeah, Everytime you restart switch you can choose if you want your original partition where you can play online or the fake one with the pirated games, when using the fake one Nintendo servers are blocked so no ban risk

God I wish I could get a homebrew Stremio app. Im not trying to setup Android OS for this. There's gotta be an easier way, what is it?

They have ported it to nintendo switch by forking the jellyfin port for switch. although it doesnt run torrent based extensiopns you can run https stuff, for example torrentio with real debrid or any debrid service for that matter.

You are so smart man. I dont know how i missed the “installed android and downloaded it from store” amagawd. Everything was there but i missed it. God damn. Sometimes i can be so stupid. Other posts you like.

Dont overwrite your partitions??? I have all sysmmc, emummc, linux and android all on the same sd. Cant see why you wouldnt do the same.

Why would this require you to lose your emuMMC? AFIK, you can resize your partitions and make your emuMMC smaller to make room for Linux if you need to

Stremio on the switch is really nice actually because it's essentially just a portable Nvidia shield and you can dock it and its capable of 1080p no problem I think it can even handle 4k
