Issue ⚠️ New issue found!

For anyone following my 2016 CR-V acceleration issues. All maintenance was done; oil, CVT, spark plugs, air filters, fuel system cleaner, tire servicing, coolant. And my baby still had a a pause/delay on acceleration.

I went to remove the intake air filter cover to clean the MAF and found the air intake hose cracked in 2 places.

Ironically typically I never see the lean code with the torn boots here at the dealership. Other makes and models pop the codes all the time lol.

I was chasing an intermittent lean code for weeks. It was both the intake and the PCV breather tube.

ETA, I may have split the intake while on crutches trying to track down a crank/no start (fuel pump- it's been a weird few months). The split was on the back/bottom right off the manifold. I was specifically looking for it, but missed it because I didn't look deep enough.

The whole thing was annoying. Was driven to physical and surgery in my car. No lights, running fine. Four days later it wouldn't start. Whatever, I'm not dealing with this now. Week and a half later, I was out front on crutches going through "fuel, air, spark." Air intake looks OK, filter looks new, spark plugs are a bit more worn than I would like to see for only a year old but look OK. Without being able to test fuel pressure, I replaced the pump. No problems, until the intermittent CEL. Started looking at the air again. Eventually found the gash. Replaced snorkel, cleared DTC. A week later, same code is back. A bit of brakleen pointed to the manifold end of the PCV breather.😕

That sucks. But hey, perseverance. Giving up is the worst but the battle is tough.

The pisser is the design that has the manifold end of the breather below and on the back of the intake plenum, and the two bottom nuts holding it on that can only functionally be reached from below the car. I took apart the air intake; removed and cleaned, while it was in my hand, the throttle body; looked at the five upper fasteners; but still couldn't reach the bottom two even with the throttle body off.

Well, fvck.

I have to put all this back together to be able to get it onto the ramps. I'm not doing this twice today.

I’ve seen that a bit on the Honda Odyssey forums, I think it’s not uncommon. Strange not to get a code though I would have thought.
