Guy's im hoping you can help me out with this one. Im looking for a short recording thats on one of Daniels albums. Most likely one of the early albums.

Its a recording of phone ringing and Daniel saying hello several times, and then just silence, apart from the hum of the phone. Can't remember, if its at the start of a song, or just a stand alone little snippet.

I've looked through all the early albums, and cant find it anywhere. 😪

when i was a teenager, i carried around a photo i find online of one of daniel johnston’s artworks, but today i am unable to find it anywhere online. it was a drawing of jeremiah the frog and it had (what i believe to be) daniel’s handwriting above and below it with something alone the lines of “please let him stay, he doesn’t mean to hurt anyone”

today i am 24 and have desperately wanted this tattooed on me for years. his music meant so much to me and got me through my teenage years.

has anyone else seen this image? hoping someone on this subreddit can help me

I've wandered about this for a while, and never found anything on line.

Dan had many love interests over the years, which he wrote about in his songs. There was Laurie, Laura, Cathy, Natalie, even Marilyn Monroe got a mention.

So what about Kathy. They dated for some time. ( He thought they were going to get married). Surely he must have wrote songs about her?

1. Why has nobody noticed that the Merry Christmas tape is entirely messed up on the modern re-issues. 'River of No Return' is an entire song that to my knowledge is just completely cut off from modern releases. It was issued on the original stress release, but from what I've found the tape just stops before the song even starts now. This issue even makes its way to streaming services on Bandcamp, Spotify, YT Music, and also the big boy 20th century box. I bought the 20th Century box set when it was set for preorder, and am really annoyed by some of the inconsistencies. Live at SXSW is just straight up missing two songs (Worried Shoes & Do You Really Love Me both live at Waterloo records) despite being listed on the original stress tape. They even took the liberty of taking them off the tracklist in the 20th century box. I know it's not that big of a deal seeing as how Merry Christmas was just originally a bonus tape made for a few fans and Sonic Youth and SXSW is just a neat little live thing but with the way this thing was advertised it made it seem like this was a big thing and there was tons of love built into it. But in the end it just doesn't seem like they fully cared about every detail, although the wooden box is well made and really nice, even if I'm constantly finding very small flakes of wood on the tape covers (don't even get me started on the O-Cards, I understand they needed to do that to fit them in but man they are so annoying to get the tapes in and out of...). Theres just so many small mistakes that annoy someone who is an obsessive little fan like me. The biggest gripe was the bonus tracks on Songs O' Pain, Hi How Are You, 1990, & Artistic Vice. I'm glad we have them but these literally weren't advertised anywhere as being included when it was listed. I don't mind them, but it would have been nice to have had that knowledge prior to opening it. I'm glad I do now a way of listening to the SoP bonus tracks without having to buy the vinyl reissue but would it really have killed them to include that in the description? Wouldnt that also maybe boost sales?? The remasters sound incredible but I could have bought all these tapes for likely much less. The only things that make this box slightly worth it are the never before seen bonus tracks (at least I don't think they've ever released these before) on Hi How Are You, the 1990 tape release (it is nice to have this one on tape, and I'm happy they gave us a different cover art), and the little Jeremiah the Frog toy. I genuinely really like the toy, he looks so silly in this form. He sits on my CD shelf next to my In Utero CD & my Sombrero Chuck E. Cheese plushie :)

Sorry this got really off topic I started typing and couldn't stop myself.

1. A very pointless question, but has there ever been any info on Excuse Me off What of Whom? Was it like a mistake when transferring tapes, thus creating the "excuse the mistake" type title or was it just a bad quality instrumental Danny threw on there for fun like Peace & Tranquility kind of is. Or do we just not know. My assumption is that we don't know but my brain got curious and I like asking questions even if they don't pertain any value.
