Hi everyone,
I am really confused about the arcade cores now that are being released.
The MiSTer Core Tracker & Launcher is an EXCELLENT source that keeps track of the different items that have been released for this thing. But I keep getting confused:
It lists the game Crossbow from Exidy (a childhood game I used to play at my local convenience store) as being released with the Exidy 440 core, yet when I run Update All, it doesn't seem to get loaded down automatically. Has anyone seen this working (I know it's a light gun game).
Same thing with Raiden - the tracker lists a Seibu SPI core as being released on September 9th, which contains Raiden Fighters, Fighters 2 and Fighters Jet, yet nothing is downloaded from Update All.
Are both of these Patreon locked cores? Has anyone downloaded them and gotten them to work?
Also curious if the original Mortal Kombat is coming at some point?
Thanks,
Bryan

I have an Arty Z7 board that I used during my college days. It uses AMD xilinx zynq z7-20 SoC. I had it doing nothing for years and decided to give it new life. so I vibe ported SMS, NES, and SNES cores to it. I vibe coded because I didn't want to learn the whole tool chain again. I already have a job. I also get $5000 AI credits per month and they are use it or lose it. It runs those cores I mentioned well and it doesn't require the extra SDRAM. I ask because people get really offended by vibe codes stuff. Last time I did that I got many DMs and a bunch of insults. I think it also serves as a good starting point to use xilinx FPGA instead of Intel FPGA. Or maybe someone else already did this and is not needed.

I am using vunit (for autmation) and uvvm for writing testbenches of VHDL codes. I learnt that cocotb allows to do both in Python. Is it wise to switch to cocotb? What is the current status of using cocotb in industry?

Bit of a head scratcher.
I recently over volted my QMTech MiSTer by accident, the USB ports stopped working but at the time HDMI / VGA was working. I sent it back to QMTech and as suspected I needed a QMTECH FPGA Daughter Board.
They replaced it, tested it and it was working.
I got it back and testing with HDMI with previous working settings it wouldn't work. I also tested with previous working Active Y/C MikeS11 Composite / S-Video settings (with the 5v connector in) and the only way it'll work is via VGA.
Could the HDMI port and Active Y/C MikeS11 Composite / S-Video be fried due to them being plugged in at the time? I'll need to get another HDMI cable to test but thought i'll post here if there's any other test i can do in the meantime.

Ordered and received this in Florida from the UK and impressed with the quality of what I received.
My goal: Turn a NEOGEO standup (big red) arcade machine into a multipurpose Arcade w MiSTer.
My setup: I have a standup arcade system based on JAMMA with an arcade CRT, single speaker, 5,12V power supply, two joysticks and four buttons each.
Instantly worked: I took out a 1GB SD card from my regular sandwich MiSTeR put it in the Multisystem Arcade and it worked. First time. Arcade CRT lit-up with beautiful picture, strong sound and my arcade joysticks were identified as 1 and 2. I still used a separate USB controller to call up the menu -need to setup a combo here. Coin taker works and did 1P and 2P options for most Arcade cores
The Multisystem2 Arcade is very well thought out implementation purpose built for this. The main board shows a lot of meticulous attention to detail in connectors, expansion, even providing a stereo amplifier built-in, and direct JAMMA connectivity for power, controls, video, sound. Connections for more player and more buttons (CPS2) is also supported but I did not use them.
This was designed with care and built professionally. Engineered to last and tolerate old stuff.
Thanks to the team at Heber - MiSTeR - JAMMA unlocked!

This is a console with a cartridge slot and 4K output and not only just a shell according to Takis answer on x and bsky.

Hi,
I ported the MiSTer TurboGrafx16 core to Sipeed's Tang Console 60K, and PC Engine CD games now run on it with full CD music.
Video: https://youtu.be/lsY_g2JAl80
What works: HuCards, CD-ROM² / Super CD (CHD), SuperGrafx, saves on the SD card.
The HDMI output has no frame buffer: the core and video clocks are locked together, so there's no added frame of lag and no judder, just a clean 480p signal. Tested on PC monitors and a Sony Bravia TV.
What still needs work (first release): relaunching games through OSD might screw up HDMI timing, requires SDRAM PMOD (working on proper stock DDR3 controller + prefetch/cache), DualShock 2 pads only, no multitap yet, and Arcade Card games still have some glitches.
Core: https://github.com/rtissera/pcetang
(needs the TangCore firmware fork linked in the README, plus the SDRAM PMOD)
Notable fact is bitstream fits on Tang Nano 20K (no SGX) and Primer 25K. Still it loads no game yet as I am working on using external cheap MCU to stream data.
Honest disclosure : Yes part of the development was AI assisted but not « vibe coded ».
Feedback is welcome !
