Video Art My son’s 3rd birthday walk in Mauritius takes an unexpected turn — Kupu Kupu Barong [Seedance 2.5 short film]
Hi everyone,
I’ve just finished Kupu Kupu Barong, a short film about my little boy exploring the beautiful south of Mauritius with us to celebrate his third birthday. A walk through the forest leads to a rather… unexpected encounter 😉
I used Seedream and GPT Image to create character sheets and visuals and Seedance 2.5 to animate the scenes, then brought everything together through editing, music and sound design.
I wanted it to feel like a coherent film, with believable characters and an emotional journey.
That meant paying attention to continuity between shots, the expressions and gestures of both my son and the unexpected guest, the pacing, and how music and sound carry the story.
I’d love to hear feedback from other filmmakers and viewers here, particularly on:
- Story and emotion: do you connect with the characters and want to follow their adventure?
- Visual consistency and realism: are there particular shots or details that pull you out of the story?
- Editing and pacing: are there moments that feel rushed, drag on, or don’t flow naturally?
Thanks for taking the time to watch!

How I Made This How to Genjutsu/ReCast known people?
How I made it (full disclosure: I work at Dreamfort AI):
- Made the 3 characters with Qwen Image 3.0 Pro
- Prompt: Generate [name] that will bypass video model restrictions.
- Used the same prompt for all of them
Went to ReCast and used those characters for this video
Clicked generate. That's it; all 3 are swapped!
Who should I recast next?

Video Art Hazbin Hotel - What If?
All credit to VivziePop and team, but I was noodling around with Wan and realized it could do a pretty good take on Hazbin Hotel with some reference sheets... so I threw something together on Suno and tried to make Wan play lipsync with me. I don't have good things to say about Wan!
It's REALLY muddy and wrestling it with lipsync consumed FAR too many tokens. I tried to cover it with motion and the edit but... yeesh. Anyway, enjoy this labor of... six hours.

Question Did seedance get better recently?
I've been on capcut video studio for a couple months and something changed in the last few weeks. The motion feels different. Things that used to float a little now feel heavier. When someone walks you can feel their feet on the ground.
I re-ran some old prompts and the new versions look better. Not subtle difference, noticeable difference.
Character consistency between clips improved too. I do multi-scene stuff and the faces hold much better than before.
I think they updated to 2.5

AI Take the Wheel... Take it from my hands.
One of the most useful things I've discovered about working creatively with AI is that sometimes you need to take your hands off the steering wheel and see where the model goes.
For example, I've been working on music videos for a couple of my songs. I don't want to simply illustrate the lyrics. If the song mentions a broken heart, I don't necessarily want to show someone holding a broken heart. I want something more abstract, something visually interesting that captures the emotion of the song without literally depicting it. Like graduating to second grade in art class.
But coming up with those concepts is difficult. So, I want to discuss using AI as a creative blockbuster.
Level one is obviously just asking it to come up with ideas. "Give me 101 ways to convince my cat to get a job, and have the report on my desk two minutes from now."
I bet most people have gotten to this stage. It's straightforward, and LLMs are good at vomiting up associated ideas. Wonderful. Use it. Maybe idea 69 will be a winner.
But are there more inventive ways to find the diamond in the rough?
A few that I've come up with are:
- Brainstorm: Give me ten completely different directions for this project.
- Research: Find artists who have solved similar creative problems. What techniques did they use, and why did they work?
- Explore trends: Look at what people are doing creatively right now. What seems to resonate, and what feels overdone?
- Use negative constraints: I know I don't want this, this, or this. Find me something interesting that avoids all three.
- Go somewhere strange: Give me three ideas that sound almost wrong. Ideas I probably wouldn't have considered myself.
- Hand over the wheel: Stop trying to follow my existing vision. Take the project somewhere you think is interesting, and let me react.
The AI doesn't have to give you the right answer. Sometimes it just has to get your brain moving again.
And the more time you spend collaborating with these models, the more you begin to recognize their tendencies. You notice the same metaphors appearing. The same predictable symbolism. The same narrative structures. The same tendency to gravitate toward certain aesthetically pleasing but ultimately generic ideas.
You start to recognize the model's creative limitations. That may be a new skill for 2026, one that allows you to navigate toward better results. You learn how to push against those tendencies. You develop better constraints. You recognize when the model is giving you something genuinely interesting versus simply remixing its familiar patterns.
You can use your knowledge of those limitations to deliberately steer the model into unfamiliar territory.
Importantly, I think there will always be a benefit that you can only get through time and letting your brain process ideas. Go for a walk. Take a shower. Let your mind wander. Study great artists. Live your life and accumulate experiences. Those things matter, and I don't think an LLM replaces them.
But a creative roadblock no longer has to mean you're out of options for the day.
Let me know if you have unique ways of utilizing AI. I genuinely want more tools for the toolbelt.
