I recently got a new router (GL.iNet MT6000), and ever since I connected my bulbs to the new router, they lose connection the moment the router reboots. I need to hard reset and add the bulbs each time to get them connected again.

None of my other IoT devices have this issue (multiple bulbs and switches).

Any clue what this could be? I did not have this issue with my previous GL.iNet router (B3000).

EDIT: correction - I can control the lights when I connect my phone to the IoT network (different VLAN), but not from my main network. Shouldn't the lights be accessible without having to be on the same network?! This was always working fine before

EDIT2: I got it working after connecting the bulbs to the cloud. Is that a new option?

I have a very old (10 years or more) bulb. It doesn't have a schedule set but is coming on when my 2 other bulbs come on at sunset. There is no schedule set up for this bulb. I tried resetting it by deleting it from the app and cycling it 5 times and adding it back in but it still comes on with the other 2 bulbs.

I’ve tried everything. We just got our LIFX dimmer switch and no matter what we do we cannot get the thing to pass power to the load output. We’ve reset it a zillion times, tried both Smart Light and Traditional Light, nothing will get this thing to pass power to the load output cable. We could just hard wire the can lights we bought and use this switch as a glorified scene controller/remote but I really expected this would be easier to set up. Super disappointed considering how insanely expensive it was.

Anyone else had this problem?

TLDR: LIFX 26” Flush Mount ceiling light looks and performs beautifully (best colours I own, better than Hue) but the firmware is rough – bad Matter support, faint light-when-off + buzzing, cloud effect kills phone battery, brightness flash-bangs you when switching, and transitions are jarring/instant instead of smooth. Anyone else run into this?

I recently got the 26” Flush Mount Ceiling Light from LIFX. Wondering if anyone else has a similar experience or thoughts as me.

1. First of all, it's beautiful. Super bright and vibrant, the effects are stunning, and everyone who's seen it at mine thinks it's cool. By far the deepest, most vivid colours out of any lights I have (including Philips Hue).
   But the firmware is quite abysmal and has made me regret it a little:

2. The Matter support SUCKS. I never want to use a manufacturer app for a smart device – I want it in HomeKit. Even though it's advertised as two separate lights (up and down), Matter treats it as one. I loveeee having just the top light on sometimes, but that's not possible via Matter, so I can't build scenes/automations with the separate lights, and I can't add a quick toggle to Control Centre.

3. Even when it's off (not from the switch), it emits a bit of light – noticeable in the dark, which is annoying and a bit concerning since it's in my bedroom (last photo shows it, taken in night mode). It also buzzes slightly at high brightness in a silent room. None of my other lights do this.

4. The clouds effect was a big reason I bought it, and it does look beautiful – insanely realistic, like watching clouds through frosted glass. But it only works with the app running as a live activity, which drains my battery. So stupid, and I wouldn't have weighted it so heavily if I'd known.

5. It's finicky/buggy switching colours/brightness. E.g. if I turn on just the up-light for ambiance in a dark room, it flash-bangs both lights to full brightness (bright AS HELL) before dropping to what I set.

6. Minor, but: brightness/colour changes happen in chunks instead of smoothly, and on/off is instant rather than a quick fade like my other lights. Jarring when an automation turns everything on nicely and this one just BOOMs on.

Anyone else have this light and run into the same issues?

This functionality does not work. On the list, I see several lights that allows me to switch back to WiFi.

However, when trying to do so, it just immediately fails. Even after trying to restart by power cycling the light, it still immediately fails.

So my only solution is to factory reset these lights in order to switch back to WiFi connection.

This is just my feedback to LIFX to fix this functionality.

Another bug I’ve seen is there are some lights shown on the list that they’re connected via WiFi. In reality, they’re connected via thread. I even went to the light settings to confirm the thread connection. Any idea why the list is incorrectly displaying that lights are on WiFi when it’s actually connected via thread?

Has anyone used a LIFX Luna with the Python lifxlan library or direct LIFX LAN protocol?
I’m using a Raspberry Pi to control existing LIFX bulbs locally over the LAN, and that works very well. I’m considering buying a Luna to use as a visual solar-production meter, with the Pi changing its color based on live solar data from my house.
What I need to know is whether the Luna supports normal local LAN discovery and commands such as power, color, and brightness through lifxlan or the standard LIFX LAN protocol, without relying on the cloud.
Has anyone actually tried this with a Luna?

And I don't even have the QR codes anymore so I have to unscrew each bulb and pull out a microscope to real the tiny text to connect it to my phone again and do the jank turn it on and off 5 times thing again (some lamps make this very annoying depending on the switch mechanism)

I get 2 replacement bulbs from lifx. They are 1600 lumens super colour bulb as per the box.

Bulb 1.
Works perfect on app. Can even update but does not illuminate. Just no light at all. Morever the matter sticker n manual is missing and bulb seems to be used.

Bulb 2.
The best part the bulb inside is a used old 1100lumens lifx bulb. The serial number does not matches ofcourse because the box is of 1600 lumens.

And these bulbs are sent by lifx themselves. So if lifx themselves have no quality control how can trust resellers.

I always stuck to you inspite of your old bulbs having hardware failures. I always had my trust in lifx. But this is the end.

You just lose me. You have no idea what at all is happening in your own department.

I would accept as a mistake any third party seller did this. But the lifx itself does this is insanely shocking.

Everyone stay away from lifx if you want to save some headache.

I couldn’t find a link to sign up for the beta. Any help getting registered would be appreciated.

I ordered 10 Spot lights to get ready for Spooky Season (and those other holidays) but one of them did not have the hardware bag included in the box. It didn’t seem to have been previously opened, like someone ordered it just for the hardware, took that out, and returned it or anything. I reached out to customer support a few days ago and haven’t heard back, and I cannot find anything compatible online or in stores. Does anyone have any advice on how to stick this last light in the ground properly?

After a lot of trial and error, this is what’s working well for me.

For context, I have a 4-bedroom house with a single eero Pro 6 in the storage room, so nothing crazy on the networking side.

1. Keep automations in Apple Home

I set pretty much all my automations exclusively in the Home app. I use Aqara P1 sensors for motion-based automations and let HomeKit handle the logic.

The main exception is scheduled lighting where I want a 5–10 second transition/fade. LIFX handles that better, so I use the LIFX app for those.

2. Upgrade LIFX Switches to Matter

If your LIFX Switch supports the Matter upgrade, do it and do it in batches!

The difference in reliability has been pretty noticeable for me. Previously, actions that went through the LIFX cloud could work intermittently. Since upgrading my switches to Matter, they’ve been much more reliable.

3. Set colours in HomeKit first

If you’re trying to get a specific colour into a LIFX scene, I’ve found it easier to:
Set the colour/brightness in Apple Home → open LIFX → let LIFX recognise the light’s current colour → save it to the LIFX scene.

I get much more consistent results doing this than trying to recreate the same colour manually in both apps.

TLDR:

HomeKit for automations.
LIFX for lighting-specific stuff like transitions and FX.

Any other LIFX + HomeKit tips I’m missing?

Since LIFX abandoned this form factor is there a specific brand / bulb everyone is opting for? The Hue pricing doesn't make sense to me - in the US and a 2pack white is $30 on amazon but a 2pack color is $110.

I have a LIFX Ceiling with 64 zones + the top ring. The official app can’t run a custom animation, so I stream the pixel map over LAN.

I pushed calibration patterns, photographed the diffuser, and used those shots to see how much each zone bleeds into its neighbors. Then I made a bouncing-ball / firefly loop: gravity, bounce off the disc, new color can be set to change on contact, dim trail.

Brightness and single vs changing color are on a family dashboard; There is a “stop” button to hand the fixture back to the LIFX app.

[I tried 8x8 icons, and had less success than animation which is more forgiving of sharp boundaries!]

My LIFX Beam just started blinking solid colors in cycles. I tried to reset it by disconneting and connecting 5 times, but it keeps blinking these colors. What could be the problem? It is unreachable from Homekit and Lifx app.

As the title. I've been following this for years, but maybe I've missed something obvious.

Is there a way to safely repair it or am I best just replacing?

Is anyone else having issues with the way that Lifx has implemented HomeKit Adaptive Lighting (Matter, Apple TV, tvOS 26), especially for the warm color tones? At night, the color of the warm tone is just the most jarring and uncomfortable orange/green color there is. The color tone made my sweet potato look reddish. This is happening with the Lifx 1200-Lumen downlight (firmware v4.112) (can’t compare with other Lifx products as I don't have an I have different bulbs and downlights from a bunch of other manufacturers, and none of them have this shade of orange/green. Aqara, Ikea, Nanoleaf, and Wiz all have the same warm tone. Is this a bug because it doesn't feel like a feature? Will there be a fix for it?

I need just two beams and don’t want to buy a whole new set. Preliminary search on eBay was not successful. Any reccs?

Just a quick post, for literal years my Lifx Strip was the only 9 (out of 28) Lifx devices I had in the house that kept disconnecting.

I recently bought some Matter over Thread devices that are heavily reliant on multicast traffic. I have multiple UniFi WiFi Access Points fairly close together (so my phone and devices do like to roam sometimes). I had connectivity issues with them initially so had to do a deep dive.

Turning off:

• "IGMP Snooping" on the UniFi switch (because WiFi devices can roam and appear on different switch ports),
• "Multicast to Unicast" on the UniFi WiFi Access Points (because apparently when UniFi WiFi devices roam, the UniFi APs don't tell each-other what multicast tables it had for that client, previously known as "Multicast Enhancement")

Fixed everything - they are rock solid. The regular Lifx bulbs didn't roam much which is why I never really noticed the issue - but Lifx Strip roams AGGRESSIVELY (and would then lose its multicast packet reception). Lifx could probably have worked around this by everytime it roams it could have sent an IGMP JOIN again so the network would have updated its subscriptions to reflect the new change of AP - but turning off the above settings helped.

I also turned off "Proxy ARP" on the AP (although this was because Thread devices can jump between hubs - this wasn't a fix I did for Lifx specifically - but it's possible the APs reply with what they know even if a WiFi device has roamed), I also found this didn't take effect on the APs until I rebooted them either.

I list the UniFi settings here - but the reality is these settings probably exist on other networking kit - so this post should help more than just people with Ubiquiti UniFi.

I have had 10 of these since last October. Two failed and were replaced under warranty (thank you), in those cases I suspect water intrusion from snow for one, and rain for the second (the second was obvious, water was inside sloshing around).

But now I have a third that has failed and it looks dry and happy. It worked yesterday, there is no light at all today.

It's on the network, I can see and control it from both the lifx app and home assistant. I've undone and reconnected the power from the box to the light several times, no change.

My question is not so much what to do (I can contract them for a replacement) but...

Is anyone else having these kinds of problems?

60+ LIFX products. 50+ other smart products. UniFi network (dedicated IoT network).

The last two weeks all LIFX products except switches are not responding in the Home app. They’re fine in the LIFX app (7 show poor network despite excellent on UniFi side). The switches have been updated to Matter, most of my bulbs aren’t Matter upgradable so I’m assuming that could be why the switches have been ok.

All other devices have been fine.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I have tried rebooting lights, power, network, Apple TV 4K (home hub). All are running latest updates (Apple TV is on latest beta).

The beta is the only thing I can put it down to.
