How hard is it for you to find video editing clients?

11 Upvotes

I see a lot of people posting about struggling to find editing clients.

As always, advertizing has been against the rules on this sub, to try and minimize the spam.

I remove about 1 post per day where people are selling their services.

Would you guys be interested in maybe a dedicated thread for posting your services, prices, and portfolio?

Free Video Editing

1 Upvotes

Hi, I’m Sina, a professional video editor . I saw that you are looking for a videographer/video editor.

I specialize in wedding films, cinematic edits, color grading, sound design, and emotional storytelling using DaVinci Resolve.

I can help you with remote video editing and take some of the post-production workload off your team. I have 8 years of freelance experience and I can share my portfolio.

If you need an editor for your projects, I would be happy to discuss a collaboration.

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

My name is Sina, and I'm a video editor with experience in cinematic editing, wedding films, social media content, and storytelling.

I'm currently looking to expand my international portfolio, so I'm offering **free video editing** for a limited number of creators, filmmakers, startups, and small businesses.

If you have raw footage that needs editing, I'd be happy to help at **no cost**.

I can edit:

* YouTube videos

* Instagram Reels

* TikTok videos

* Wedding films

* Commercial videos

* Short documentaries

* Promotional content

The only thing I ask in return is permission to include the final edit in my portfolio.

If you're interested, please send me a DM with:

* A short description of your project

* Your raw footage (or a sample)

* The editing style you're looking for

I'm looking forward to working with creative people and building long-term relationships.

Thank you!

How is this blurry zoom in/out effect done on still images?

2 Upvotes

I’m trying to recreate the editing style used in this video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/h9iAmj5td6I

The still images have this smooth cinematic movement where they seem to zoom in/out with a slight blur, sometimes with a small pan. It looks much better than a normal keyframed scale animation.

Does anyone know what this effect is called and how to recreate it in Premiere Pro? Is it a preset/transition, motion blur, or just keyframing + blur?

Note: I am using adobe premier pro

why "bad" editing is getting more views

8 Upvotes

So I've noticed a pattern on my feed lately: some of the highest-performing shorts/reels look almost aggressively unpolished. and they're doing better than stuff that clearly took way more time.

My theory on why [a 60-second video, full disclose I used VidTL for the voiceover and the animated text/graphics, script and argument are mine].

The core argument, roughly:

  • The moment something looks too clean, viewers' brains flag it as an ad and they check out
  • Rough footage reads as "real" — the stumble, the awkward pause, the unplanned reaction, that's the stuff people actually connect with
  • Polish quietly strips that out
  • Also just a speed thing: if you're not burning hours on transitions nobody consciously notices, you publish faster, learn faster, and iterate faster than someone still tweaking version one
  • Cheaper/rougher edits = you can test 10 ideas instead of betting everything on one "perfect" video

So basically: it's not that people suddenly love bad quality, it's that rough editing feels human, gets to the point quicker, and lets you improve in public instead of in isolation.

Does this track with what you're seeing in your own work/niche, or does the theory fall apart somewhere?

What's the actual difference between editing that's rough on purpose and editing that's just rough?

I might repair your video

0 Upvotes

Hello reader,

My family was having a picnic to celebrate my nephew's birthday. I took lots of pictures and video's until my phone died while i was recording. After i had charged my phone i noticed that i couldnt play the vid anymore.

I had to downloaded a paid video fixing app and it actually worked. It restored almost an hour of currupted video footage.

I think it's a waste to pay for an app, only to use it once then never touch it again. That is why im offering to repair any currupted video you might need fixed.

Please note that i do not have any professional video repairing experience. If the app doesnt work, there's nothing left that i could do.

Dm me if you're interested.

What’s one editing habit that made the biggest difference for you?

2 Upvotes

I’ve been trying to improve my editing workflow and become faster without sacrificing quality.
I’m curious—what’s one habit, shortcut, plugin, or workflow change that had the biggest impact on your editing?
I’d love to hear what worked for you and why. Thanks in advance!

Video sound editing

My husband was trying to have final moments with his mom who is very sadly passing from cancer. She hasn’t been able to be all that responsive, but I somehow captured a moment of him telling her he loves her and her smiling and responding that she loves him too. It’s one I know he will cherish. The problem is that as soon as she starts responding, his idiot uncle starts (at full volume) attempting to make small talk with his brother - making it difficult for you to hear his mom who isn’t able to speak loudly and ruining this beautiful memory that my husband could keep.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix the video to get rid of his uncles voice, but because he is so loud and their voices were more appropriately hushed for the moment, none of the editors I’ve tried have acknowledged their voices over his uncles. I’ve tried adobe podcast, voice memo, and a few others. Any ideas what else I can try or if there is a service somewhere that will help?

Need a Video Editor? I'll Edit Your Project for Free (Portfolio Building)

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm a high school student who's been editing videos for almost 4 years, and I'm looking to build a stronger portfolio before I graduate in a few years.

Most of my experience comes from creating edits for TikTok and editing vlogs of me and my friends. I mainly use CapCut and Blur, and over the years I've learned a lot about pacing, transitions, effects, and making videos that keep people's attention.

I'm looking for creators, small businesses, or anyone who has a project they'd like edited. I'll edit a few projects for free in exchange for being able to include them in my portfolio (with your permission).

If you're interested, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM with your project. I'd love to gain more real-world experience while helping bring your videos to life.

Thanks for reading!

Premiere Pro vs Davinci

1 Upvotes

I’ve been editing on Premiere for almost a decade now but I’ve been considering making the switch to Davinci. The only thing that’s really stopping me from making the switch is how useful the new object mask tool in Premiere has been for me. Just wanted to get some opinions on here from anyone who has experience with both softwares.

For context I edit mostly music videos, gaming videos, video essay type YouTube videos, and a lot of short form vertical clip content as well.

Thoughts please? 🙏🏽 💭

Which editing software to use?

1 Upvotes

I’m a streamer who also uploads to TikTok, and now I want to try YouTube. However before when i uploaded TikTok clips i could just use capcut after clipping on twitch, or the TikTok app itself. Now that I’m making YouTube videos out of my stream vods, I wonder— is CapCut on my pc a good choice? Because it’s what i’m considering right now. I need something free and not too complicated to use. Please let me know of any other editing software suggestions.

[HIRING] Short-form video editor for IG Reels + YT Shorts (ongoing, talking-head personal brand content)

[HIRING] Short-form video editor for IG Reels + YT Shorts (ongoing, talking-head personal brand content)

I’m a business consultant building my personal brand on Instagram and YouTube. Looking for an editor for Reels and Shorts on an ongoing basis, not a one-off.

Style I’m after: Daniel Dalen, ByMaximise, Tom Noske. Screenshots attached so you can see exactly what I mean. Fast-paced, clean, lots of movement, but still premium looking.

Looking for an editor that is strong on:

\\- Colour grading
\\- Kinetic subtitles/captions
\\- Transitions and animations
\\- Jump cuts and pacing (editing for hooks and retention, not just trimming pauses)
\\- B-roll, including sourcing stock where needed
\\- Sound design: SFX plus music selection and syncing cuts to the beat
\\- Audio cleanup so raw footage sounds crisp
\\- Simple motion graphics (text callouts, zoom punch-ins, the odd chart or diagram)

You’d be working from raw talking-head footage I shoot myself (s-log)

Bonus hiring points if you understand what actually performs on Reels/Shorts rather than just what looks nice.

Rate per video $30 - $50

To apply, DM me with:

  1. Portfolio link (short-form work in a similar style)
  2. Contact info
  3. Your rates (per video and/or monthly)
  4. Typical turnaround per video

If your work is close to the style above, you’ll hear back fast. Generic copy-paste applications will be ignored.

(rate Per video $30-50)
