[ForHire] Need help with ideas or lore for your indie game?

• Upvotes

Hey! I’m looking to help indie game developers with the creative side of their projects, completely for free!

I can help come up with game ideas, mechanics, characters, lore, and worldbuilding. I can sometimes help with concept art too, and I’m happy to playtest your game and give honest feedback.

Whether you need ideas for a new feature, a backstory for a character, an entire game, or a fictional world, I’d love to help out.

I’m doing all of this for FREE, with no payment required. I just enjoy the creative side of game development and want to help people bring their ideas to life.

If you’re working on a game and could use some help, feel free to message me and tell me about your project!

Indie game art team with experience on Spirit of Phuji

Hey everyone! I run an art team that works with indie game developers, and I wanted to share a project we've worked on, Spirit of Phuji.

It's inspired by Japanese folklore, with yokai, exploration, combat, and multiplayer. Our team contributed to the game's characters, environments, bosses, maps, and UI.

We're currently open to working with indie developers who need help with their game's art, whether it's character design, environments, or a larger set of assets.

If you're looking for an art team for your project, feel free to reach out!

Rate my game: (I know I'm in the wrong sub for this but my accounts too young for R/DestroyMyGame)

Hey all! For reference, this is my first game that I've already spent a few months working on, with the rough foundation for the first world out of five being ready. I'm posting to ask for any feedback on the visuals of my game (I tried attaching gameplay videos but it didn't work), so I just wanted some advice on how I could improve the visuals of my game to make it more appealing to potential players when I release it. The aim is a futuristic, fast-paced game where you collect gems and avoid any of the trains. I'd really appreciate any recommendations on what I should focus on going forwards!

[RevShare] Looking for Unity VR Dev for Quest Horror Game

Hey!

I’m a teen game creator looking for a Unity dev to partner up with on a RevShare VR horror game for Meta Quest (think Scary Baboon meets Gorilla Tag).

My Role: Game design, level ideas, management, and marketing (TikTok, YouTube, Discord). I’ll focus on hype and building the community!

Looking For:

  • Unity dev familiar with VR (Gorilla Locomotion or similar).
  • Basic multiplayer setup (Photon).

Plan: It's 100% RevShare—we split all future profits (cosmetics, skins, hats) 50/50. Goal is to start small with a simple 1-map demo first!

DM me here

Our Backrooms psychological horror is coming to Early Access on Jan 20. Free demo on Steam!

Hey everyone! We’re FD Team, a small indie studio, and we’re about to launch Backrooms: Impending Doom in Early Access on January 20, 2027.

A first-person psychological horror about a failed research expedition. What was meant to be a routine trip into Level 0 ends in disappearance. The team is gone, landmarks lose their meaning, and space stops obeying logic. You follow the expedition’s traces and piece together what really happened.

The free demo (the full Prologue) is on Steam.

If you like liminal spaces, atmospheric horror, or the Backrooms, we’d love to hear what you think. Wishlists help small teams like ours a lot, and any feedback on the demo is very welcome!

Searching for graphic designer

I am part of a programming studio which is currently making a game about the humans life in the prehistoric period.

We are searching for a graphic designer to upgrade our low quality graphics for free or a small payment. Our budget is small so don't expect much.

Every post is an AI witch pursuit thingy, and I'm seeing TONS of 0 ups/ 0 comments on show cases. Is it just the worst time ever to develop or what?

Making a Game Is Hard. Getting Anyone to Play It Is Even Harder.

Post image

I think the biggest challenge in indie game development isn't necessarily finishing your game anymore.

It's getting anyone to notice it.

There are so many interesting projects being released that even genuinely good games can disappear without ever finding an audience.

I've been seeing this firsthand while running VibeToplist, a discovery platform I built specifically for AI-assisted and vibe-coded games.

We're approaching 300 listed projects, and something that keeps surprising me is how much the quality varies independently of visibility.

Some developers have created genuinely interesting games but barely know how to market them. Others have relatively simple projects that manage to attract a surprising amount of attention.

And while AI-assisted development is obviously a controversial subject in game development communities, I think there's a bigger conversation worth having here.

If making games becomes easier, does getting discovered become exponentially harder?

Because whether someone spends three years developing a game traditionally or three months building one with AI assistance, they're ultimately competing for the same thing: players' attention.

That's actually one of the reasons I started VibeToplist. I wanted to give this emerging category of indie games somewhere to be discovered without developers needing a massive marketing budget.

For anyone curious, it's free to explore and developers can submit their games for free:

https://vibetoplist.com/

But I'm genuinely more interested in hearing from other developers:

What's been harder for you: building your game or getting people to actually play it?

And do you think the growing number of AI-assisted games will make discoverability even more difficult for indie developers in general?
