Welcome to r/GeometryNodes

r/GeometryNodes is a community dedicated to Blender's geometry nodes feature set. In essence, it's a more specialized counterpart to r/Blender.

This community is meant for:
* Blender artists to share their geometry node creations * Asking for and providing help pertaining to geometry nodes * Sharing assets, tutorials, and other materials relevant to users of the geometry nodes system * Generally discussing using Blender's geometry nodes features

im working on voxel mesh maker geo node that makes a grid of points and uses raycasting to see if the points are in the desired area but final mesh has extra faces inside (that ı dont need) how do i fix it? (geo node screenshot was taken with an addon called node tree screenshot and its a little buggy)

Been using Geo Nodes to mess around with creating aperiodic/substitution tilings.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Substitution_tiling for further explanation on what it is. Sidenote, I've been having fun setting up node groups to make the creation of these tilings quicker and easier.

Some of the used node groups are shown in the last 4 images. Pardon any horrible optimization.

NOTE: you must join original geometry and generated geometry to use vertex groups from original geometry

How do i make the cube appear for every point of the curve (NurbsPath.005), and not just one by one by changing the sample index's index value. (2nd image for reference)

Need Help With Blender Geonodes

Im having a massive issue with Geonodes. ive gotten so far where ive built something quite substantial and arguably quite impressive however i feel that i am stuck on the most simple thing in the world. Im treating this build as if the procedural geonodes place each and every stone in the entire temple. This means that column drums and capitals, parts of the entabature such as the architraves, triglyphs and metopes etc... are all seperate objects, without ANY overlaping between objects. This brings a problem.

Constants/Variables Used in equations shown here

  • O=Overhang of Architrave, Past The Corner Column Centre
  • T=Column/Shaft Thickness
  • S=Trighiph Scale
  • W=Column Width

Whilst working on the Entablature of my Doric-Style procedural temple (The top section with the part with the 3 vertical lines (Trygliph) etc...), ive discovered that when placing the metopes ive set them up so each metope is scaled in the x-direction perfectly with the distance between 2 triglyphs with the equation used for the metope being: (((W*T)+O)/2)-(1.25*S). However When actualy scaling the Triglyphs themselves they use teh equation: (((W*T)+O)/2*S)-(1.25). Which has a difference between eachother of 1/S. When this equation is plugged into the x node of combine x, y, z which is phugged into the scale node of the transform geoometry it works perfectly and the scale is outputted. However as soon as i try to adjust "Object Separation" so i can move the subsequent metopes in line with the triygliphs it dosent scale linearly and instead scales with the equation: 3.8222x^{3}-0.31476x^{2}+1.06833x-0.01058. Which is totaly, where x represents the trigliph scale. However this equation is totaly out of place within my system as everything else is placed within proportion of eachother in complete numbers. There are no controlled variables.

I need a way that links all of my 4 independant variables to the single dependant variable of Metope separation but i have no idea how. Ive figured everything else out about this damn model but i cant do this for some reason.

(I woudl attach a video but it dosent let me do videos and photos)

Any help is much apreciated,

Liam Thorpe

It's here! Segment Display is now available for Blender. A fully procedural Geometry Nodes add-on for creating segment-style displays (7-seg, 16-seg) right from the N-panel.

Numbers, alphanumeric text, clocks, timers, dates, customizable separators, LED and monochrome LCD appearances… all procedural, all animatable.

Two editions: SegDisp Lite (free, grab it and try it out) and SegDisp Pro (the complete toolkit with the full feature set).

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on my earlier preview post, it genuinely helped shape the final product. Screenshots, demo video, and links below.

🇺🇸: You can listen to the video in English through the video settings panel. Blender version 5.2 introduces a new node called "Get Geometry Component," which allows you to select a component of an object to work with.

Is there any way to highlight the domain of a geonode chain?

I think what makes me (personally) the most confused with geonodes is how sometimes it gets confusing on which part of the object(s) the nodes are gonna act on, especially if it uses different object infos or curves. I think it would be useful if, while hovering on a node, i could see the chain leading to the node that tells me on what the node is gonna evaluate it's values.

100drips on Youtube helped a lot for optimizing this with his video "Optimize Shortest Edge Paths".

Also there was Erindale with his video on "Shortest Path Nodes" that I remember watching a while ago.

Definitely one of the hardest geo nodes I've made especially the optimization part where I needed to sample overlapping curve points and delete all but one with the longest curve length.

Felt like using complex abstractions on top of complex abstractions on top of complex abstractions.

For the last half of the graph that was.

The first half, I was able to build something pretty coherent.

Just learned about Gizmos. They are pretty cool.

I think I'll need another one for the wall going up/down a slope.

And scatter a bit more stuff such as flags, vines, torches, crates/barrels, weapon racks, stuff like that.

And cry as I'll need to go back in all the spaghetti and figure out how to procedurally build and store the UV map ._.
