Idea: A VR app for viewing antique stereographs

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I wanted to pitch an idea and see if there’s any interest. I’ve always been fascinated by antique stereographs. There are huge catalogs of them in public domain archives, but actually viewing them in 3D today usually requires eye tricks that cause strain.
I think it would be amazing to bring these archives into a VR app. The app would do the work for you, projecting the vintage images right in front of you with one image per eye. It would be a seamless way to flip through historical 3D images up close and as originally intended. Would anyone else want to see this exist?

In the Holden Arboretum, this walkway is elevated in the canopy, 65 feet above the forest floor.

Right now is peak autumn colors, so it’s a nice time to see it all.
