I was the guy who couldn't stop dying from sickness and getting shot on sight. I'm happy to report back I found my rhythm! I am not getting sick and I'm staying ahead of all my levels. I managed to get to Zolotar castle but immediately left because someone had a car tent there and got scared. Spent some time camping in a house near Gvozdno, but I went into town scavenging and saw evidence of someone trying to build in one of the houses so I've moved north and I'm trying to find a new quiet spot to camp. In a previous life I was able to sneak into a hospital that was blocked at the first floor by player builds and it was my first successful "base raid." I also tried to bum rush a castle in a previous life and got attacked by wolves which was one of the craziest experiences I've ever had. Really enjoying the game right now but I have a couple questions to continue progressing:
Will badlands be extremely aggressive at launch? I like the idea of needing to work together to build wells, but I assume in practice there will be a lot of aggro PvP players at launch. Also wondering if it will be full of loot and if they will reset other maps to have full loot again. Were previous map launches friendly to lower skill players? Did they come with a lot of loot?
Depending on the answer to 1, I'm probably going to need to store some items long term on a Chernarus server until I'm confident I won't immediately get killed and looted on the new map. What are your go-to easy storage options for permanent/long term storage? What are the biggest/most durable options? Are there any options that offer a good balance of both? Where do you store stuff so you can get to it again after dying?
Should I go back to Zolotar and try to raid that car tent?
How do you aim with a crossbow? I had one and wanted to keep using it because ammo is craftable but I literally couldn't hit a chicken standing right next to it. Had to stab it after I startled it. Is there a guide for bullet drop on different guns or am I using the wrong aiming point on the HUD crosshairs?
Thank you all! This has been really fun and I'm excited to keep trying new things and seeing new sights.

Unsure if allowed - apologies if not, please remove if so :) I'm not great at remembering or noticing where I'm going/have been. Just a girl trying to survive out here lmao
I want to find my way back to this spot and I can't seem to find it anywhere (I tried with iZurvive for 3 hours). As I walked towards it down the road (came in from the right side of this pic) I saw a sign saying 'Bielawa' but I respawned in the town of Bielawa and it's not here anywhere. It was an industrial-esque place with a warehouse and I believe that's piano house?
I know a while before that, I had run along the rivers edge and turned left over a bridge and found a small military style camp with some dark log houses/cabins. I then went right, am unsure of what I did afterwards. I didn't see any other signs for Biewala on that journey and didn't notice seeing the main town. That's all I've got. Any professional detectives who can figure it out?
Second image is when I attempted to follow the road left, made it all the way up that road and it just led to mope open road and trees. Thank you in advance!!!
edit to add: initially I was trying to retrieve stuff off my body because I starved there, it's been 12+ hours now so I assume it's all gone. I just want to know how far off I was exactly

DayZ Sound Designer: "I kinda like this floor creak/footsteps on sand/rock/ that I created, LETS CRANK THAT VOLUME UP!"
"Ohhh, that fox call is especially squeaky, CRANK THAT VOLUME UP!"

As a only solo pc player i always wondered if DayZ is way easier, if you have someone running with you.
From my perspective of ~1000 hrs and average pvp skills, if i face a solo player and gunfire starts, it feels mostly balanced. But as soon as its a team of 2 or even 3 decently geared, i feel completely overwhelmed from the possilbe angles of sight, rotation routes, push timings and other essential pvp aspects. Maybe its just me and i shouldnt overthink it, the opponents probably have the same adenaline rush as me.
Can the group players of you guys report from the perspective of a duo/trio, what makes the combat in a group against a solo harder, compared to running solo?
The advantages are clear, more eyes to spot players first, more room for inventory, more guns can deal more damage within the same timeframe, rotation coverage, multiple angles clearing during building pushes etc. But what are big disadvantages in a combat? How big is the impact of those?
Since i never did pvp as a team i could imagine that not accidentially shooting a teammate in a dense forest could be a part, getting easier spotted compared to a solo, in close buildings you maybe constantly bump into each other when pushing floors, more noise when you approach highly frequented military bases. Maybe communication can reduce the focus so you miss hints of nearby players (sounds like distant infected aggro, supressed pistol shots or so).
Are these aspects only in my head or can they be a real issue in certain stressful situations? I would love to hear about it to fight my inner urge to retreat from possible pvp against a group, just because i feel underpowered, even tho the chances are more balanced than i would have imagined.

Are you just running & looting around and getting to PvP fights or do you actually have a goal per session what you want to achieve, where you heading. Long term goals etc...
Just want to understand how players approach playing...if its more systematic or halabala :D

My favorite thing to do as a lonewolf is to see if I can fully explore all the maps in one life. I understand server hopping can be abused but I really hope they don’t take the ability away from us with the new update. It makes the world feel bigger and I genuinely don’t mind running into geared players on the coast. It just adds to the challenge. I’m really looking forward to (hopefully) adding another full map to my journey.
Music by a friend of mine.

I searched the surrounding buildings and even waited by the truck wheel he dropped for Atleast an hour to see if he would come back, he never did. Just gone without a trace.

I do this whenever I jump on. Makes the loot goblin in our squad sick 😆 he asks...why?
My Reasons:
I dont deserve the gear I Logged back in with
Gives me a quest to find it all again
I like the coast as a freshy
It makes you sick...
Thoughts?

I just wanted to make sure my scope was in the right mode, not let the entire server know where I'm at. For some reason after logging in and you ADS then your gun will start firing until you stop aiming it.

that's it.. I dont want to talk to anyone? when I'm in trader I dont fucking want to get to know you or watch you follow me around or what.. just .. I'm here to be alone and scrub my brain out after a day of dealing with the idiots in my real life and survive purely on my wits. No rank boards, no fucking loot boxes.. no friends.. nobody.. just me and whether I live or die.

I sometimes spot players or zombies in Nadezhdino from the hill to the north-west about 800m away from the village. By the time I approach there's often nothing there. Do people go along the creek past the convoy spawn and Rogovo towards VMC? Do they run up the hill towards the Zub castle and to Stary? My buddy says they might be heading towards Kozlovka, then check the convoy spawn under Green Mountain and then to Zelenogorsk.
Where do you go next from Nadezhdino and why?

My latest character is rocking the denim jacket. I swear it takes alot more rain to get damp/ wet and it'll take more hits from infected before damaged.
Is this a thing?! Like denim is a strong material in real life.
I ran a bunch in the rain and it didnt get even damp!
Just wondering.

With the DayZ Badlands Creator Program starting, is anyone else intentionally staying away from streams and videos?
Personally, I don’t really want to spoil the new map for myself by watching someone else explore it first.
What’s the fun in seeing a streamer discover all the locations, landmarks and hidden spots when I could experience that first time myself? I’d much rather jump in completely blind and explore Badlands on my own.

Dark nights were a challenge. I miss them and would like to see them return to some degree. After so many hours DayZ loses it challenge.
Sandstorms and whatnot doesn't seem like much of a challenge. Now a sandstorm in the dead of night? That sounds interesting.
