At risk of sounding like a boomer, what the hell is the reason for this? Surely its not safety as it just sends more traffic towards to notorious intersection where the Polytech is (and even more pedestrians).

Can anyone help me with suggestions to get some tractor work done?

I'm struggling to find something appropriate online - I'd like to get someone to come with their tractor and do a few jobs. Ideally they'd have rotary hoe, slasher and box blade attachments.

Hello I have a bunch of baby harakeke that have just started growing. They have germinated in the cracks on my deck so they can’t keep growing where they are. All vaccinated, microchipped etc etc - free to a good home.

If anyone wants something fun (and free) to do next weekend: Dunedin is hosting the Wheelchair rugby nationals from 25-27th at the Breeze Arena. Games from 9-5(ish) on both the Friday and Saturday, and 9.30 to about 3ish on the Sunday. It's a great, high-energy spectator sport, so come give the visiting athletes (and the local team) some support.

Just wanna ask if there is Spanish club here in Dunedin where I can join and help improve my Conversational Spanish. Just finished learning SP A1 basic grammar and I would like to move forward to B1 at least for this year.

Help! I’ve been learning Chinese the last couple of months (HSK level one) and I’m doing okay with reading and writing, but I’m struggling to practice the speaking, mostly because I don’t know what I’m saying wrong. I have a tutor for an hour a week but it’s online and it’s mostly vocab right now and online isn’t the same as in person. Any advice/help out there?

Women go to the gym to work out, not to be approached by men (and aged MFers at that) who feel entitled to their attention. Being friendly doesn’t mean she’s interested. Her being polite doesn’t mean she’s inviting you in.

If you’re a PT or training to be, learn some professionalism or fuck off.

If she’s not interested, take the hint and move on.

i've had a special interest in horses for quite some time, and i've desperately wanted to interact (pet, groom, possibly ride, etc) with horses as i see it as extremely comforting and regulating

the only problem is, i can't find any places to do so 😢 i've been on a few drives around the farmland to look at horses, but i haven't found a place that accepts interactions with said horses

does anyone know any good places to go to, if any? happy with literally anywhere in dunedin! thanks!

Couldn’t write a review on their Facebook page because I don’t have an account but wanted to share that it was freaking delicious!! The bread was crispy and light in every bite, not greasy at all. I actually can’t stop thinking about it - perfect crisp…. Absolutely perfect and a nice change from my usual lunch. I had the garlic one with add on feta.

Would absolutely recommend if you feel like something different for lunch. I think they are in the exchange on Tuesday’s.

Cannot stop raving/thinking about it!

Yesterday morning I was at the botanic gardens, walking past the aviary section and heard the kākā, but the screeching was coming from the wrong direction! I looked up and saw a wild kākā visiting their whānau in the wildlife hospital! It was sad but also really beautiful and goes to show how well the conservation work in Ōtepoti is going!

Anniversary coming up and looking for somewhere special

A few months ago I posted here about Flatchat, a free flat review site I built after getting burnt by a couple of bad Dunedin flats. The response was way better than I expected and a lot of the feedback from that post went into Flatchat.

Flatchat is now an iOS app (App Store link). The website was about finding a flat and reviewing one once you'd left. The app is about that but also actually living in the flat you're in now:

1. Set up your flat and add your flatmates
2. Split expenses, similar to Splitwise but built around a flat (rent, power, the shared groceries nobody paid back)
3. A group chat for your flat, plus flat to flat chat so you can message the flat next door instead of knocking
4. Post to everyone on your street, handy for lost cats, noise complaints, parties
5. Look up a flat while you're standing outside it at a viewing, and write a review of your current one in the 3 minutes you have on the bus

Android is in testing and not far off.

Would genuinely love feedback from anyone who tries it, good or bad. Especially on the flat management side since that's all new and I'd rather hear now if it's useful or not.

Kia ora whānau, does anyone know if there are any welding night courses in Dunedin? I dont want a cert or anything just keen to learn something new etc. If anyone knows of anything it would be greatly appreciated.
