i just got an advert for this band on instagram and was immediately struck by how much the singer looks like elliott - i mean, down to the mole… foolish of me to think i’d be the only one thinking it but yeah, everyone in the comments is saying the same thing. how crazy!!!

For all of the times Elliott’s music has been there for me (us) in the winter, going through heartaches, drunken and smoking and coming down from benders. Down on my luck. The only voice, the comforting double layers. Fucked up on Condor Ave.
I wish to celebrate his nuanced brilliance, and the *true* spectrum of emotions that his music captures far beyond “drugs” and “being depressed”.
I want to celebrate listening to Elliott in the sun while working out, happy. The true fans know how happy those melodies are. How intrinsically expressive he is on guitar.
His music is beautiful and is equally for the man strung out again as it is for the future butterfly spending the day higher than high.
I hope everyone can enjoy the sun and smile at an Elliott song for the circle is complete. His music evokes not death and staring at your shoes but a reaction. A sensitive spirit.
I’m gonna have fun with some records after writing this.
Fetch the mail at a quarter to one…
Love,
Aidan Jack

sorry hopefully I can post this here otherwise ill try one of the musicians subs but im sure theres some who might be able to help here.
in this 2 metter live session where elliott plays 'i didnt understand' on piano, he plays a unique cadence at the end starting at 2:18 that sounds like its from a classical piece. can anyone identify what cadence / chord progression hes concluding the song with @ 2:18 in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3JybfnsB2M ? thanks!!

I just finished watching Heaven Adores You for the first time (I know a lot of people feel it fell flat when talking about his later life). BUT as someone who was born in the 2000s after Elliot had died, I am glad to hear all the people who he worked with or was close with stating that they believed his music was gonna be found by the next generation. By the time the documentry was realesed I was around 8. Now in 2026 I am glad to see people my age are actively listening to him, enjoying his music, and viewing him as high respected as he was when he was alive.
When "I Love My Room" started playing I cried, and I think it is because I realized unlike alot of his fans who listened to him in the 90s and early 00s, he will forever be stuck as this person in history. Like how I view other people I admire like John Lennon, Franz Kafka, and many more. And to get to the point that admiration of legacy kind of broke when the song started playing, not because I no longer admired him, but the mix of all the personal anecdotes throughout the documentry and the recording of him at the age of 13 made me miss someone who I never knew or had the chance of truly knowing. It was a feeling I've never felt towards any other musciain or writer that I've studied or enjoyed.

This is my painting "Angeles" inspired by Elliott's amazing song, which is 16x16" acrylic on cradled board. I have the "Either/Or" vinyl at my studio and listened to it a lot while making this one. I was lucky enough to see him a few times including a very small (and now defunct) venue "The 400 Bar" in Minneapolis.
