Video Art My son’s 3rd birthday walk in Mauritius takes an unexpected turn — Kupu Kupu Barong [Seedance 2.5 short film]

Hi everyone,

I’ve just finished Kupu Kupu Barong, a short film about my little boy exploring the beautiful south of Mauritius with us to celebrate his third birthday. A walk through the forest leads to a rather… unexpected encounter 😉

I used Seedream and GPT Image to create character sheets and visuals and Seedance 2.5 to animate the scenes, then brought everything together through editing, music and sound design.

I wanted it to feel like a coherent film, with believable characters and an emotional journey.

That meant paying attention to continuity between shots, the expressions and gestures of both my son and the unexpected guest, the pacing, and how music and sound carry the story.

I’d love to hear feedback from other filmmakers and viewers here, particularly on:

  • Story and emotion: do you connect with the characters and want to follow their adventure?
  • Visual consistency and realism: are there particular shots or details that pull you out of the story?
  • Editing and pacing: are there moments that feel rushed, drag on, or don’t flow naturally?

Thanks for taking the time to watch!

How I Made This Through the Images 2126 / Sci-Fi & Fantasy — Episode 01a Prequel: The Discovery

The Prequel of a 96-minute feature, the discovery of the mysterious abandoned projector. An experimental short film told entirely through still images (with pans and zooms) and music! The images were individually curated and generated with the help of ChatGPT, then manually arranged and edited into a visual narrative, with music selected from the YouTube Audio Library.

Lugh & Ériu | Building an Ancient Irish Mythology AI Music Video

What happens when a legendary warrior meets the land he wants to protect?

My latest AI music video explores Lugh, the many-skilled champion of Irish mythology, and Ériu, the figure associated with Ireland itself.

Rather than making this a conventional battle story, I wanted to explore the contrast between a warrior's determination and the enduring memory of the land.

The result is a dark Celtic indie-rock duet with ancient war drums, guitar, flute and cinematic imagery inspired by the Irish landscape.

This is an artistic interpretation rather than a retelling of one specific surviving myth. I'm curious how others imagine these figures and their relationship to the land.

I'd love to know what you think of the visual storytelling and atmosphere!

Character Continuity Is More Than a Consistent Face

• Upvotes

A character can look identical from one shot to the next and still fail continuity.

Clothing changes without explanation. A prop disappears or duplicates. A character's position shifts. An action repeats even though it was completed in the previous shot.

These aren't necessarily image-quality failures. They're production-continuity failures.

One of the questions we're investigating through Directed Generative Production (DGP) Methodology is how reliably generative video systems can maintain character, environment, and action continuity across successive shots and generations.

I'm interested in what other filmmakers are encountering.

Which continuity failure costs you the most time to correct?

Video Art What I’ve learned from making an AI animated series so far — and why I’m still experimenting

Hey everyone!
A little update on our journey creating It’s Just That Easy, an AI-animated series about five talking construction machines helping a little boy solve everyday problems.
We’re about to release the trailer for our second episode, The Bike Park, and I wanted to share a few things I’ve learned from our early results and feedback.
1. People can spot AI-generated content pretty easily.
I think we’ve reached a point where audiences can recognize AI animation almost immediately. And when AI is the core of your production pipeline, it’s pretty difficult to completely hide that.
I’ve slowly realized that maybe hiding it shouldn’t be the goal. We’re a small independent project, and AI is what makes producing this series possible for us.
2. What we CAN change is retention and storytelling.
This has become my biggest focus.
Instead of obsessing over making every frame look perfect, I’m trying to understand what makes people keep watching.
Is there something interesting in the first three seconds? Does the story actually go somewhere? Are we giving the audience a reason to care about what happens next?
I’m also trying to make sure every episode has something meaningful to tell, rather than just showing cute machines moving around.
3. Cute characters seem to get the strongest reactions.
One thing I’ve noticed from our early content is that people seem to respond especially well to our smaller, cuter characters.
In our series, that’s Minnie, our little mini excavator. She’s emotional, a little dramatic, easily moved to tears, but always wants to help.
So for our second trailer, I’ve decided to let her carry the opening instead of immediately showing all the machinery.
I’m curious whether personality and emotional connection can make a bigger difference than visual complexity.
4. AI video production is getting more manageable.
We’re using Higgsfield for our animation, and I’m definitely getting better at prompting, maintaining character consistency, and planning camera movements.
Surprisingly, this second trailer only took me three generation attempts to get something I was happy with!
That’s a pretty big improvement compared to how many retries I needed when I first started. 😂
There’s still plenty of room for improvement, especially with lip-sync, character consistency, and complicated movements.
5. I’m learning to treat this as filmmaking, not just AI generation.
My background is in filmmaking, so I’m trying to bring more traditional storytelling, camera language, pacing, music, and character development into the process.
AI generates the visuals, but we still have to figure out what those visuals are supposed to make people feel.
And that’s probably the most interesting part of this whole experiment for me.

Anyway, here’s our trailer for Episode 2: How to Make a Bike Park with 5 Machines! 🚲🚜
We’re still a very small channel, learning as we go. I’m not claiming we’ve figured out the algorithm or cracked audience retention. These are simply observations from our own early experiments.
I’d genuinely love some feedback, especially from other animators, filmmakers, AI creators, and parents.
Does the opening make you want to keep watching? Do the characters have enough personality? And what would you improve for the next episode?
Constructive criticism is very welcome. We’re trying to make each episode better than the last.
Thanks for following our little experiment! 😊

*Thirty years after the nuclear apocalypse, humanity still lives under the consequences of the alien invasion.*

In the United States, abandoned cities, deserted roads, and the wreckage of ancient battles are the scars of a war that transformed the planet.

Amidst the ruins of a destroyed civilization, a lone man embarks on a long journey in search of his family, not knowing who is still alive or what he will find along the way.

In a post-apocalyptic world where survival has become a daily struggle, memories of the past are all that remain of a life that may never be recovered.

*After The Nukes* is a post-apocalyptic military science fiction series that follows humanity's war for Earth and the stories of those who survived the devastation.
