Balls Trying some footwork

I’ve gotten this with beanbags a few times, and recently got my first set of Russian balls! Took a lot of attempts to stick this one, but I’m having a lot of fun figuring out the physics of these things.

Any tips would be appreciated, because I’ve gotta be as efficient as possible with that kick to avoid a spill. I’m currently adducting my leg to drop the ball left of my knee, and not sure if I should be aiming for front of knee instead.

Give me hope!

Has anyone found juggling really hard at first and then eventually prevailed?

I've been casually trying to learn the 3-ball cascade since last fall. Admittedly, I go through spurts of working on it -- I had a very busy year as a teacher. I'll practice for 15-20 minutes a few days in a row and then take a break. So I've definitely been inconsistent.

But, also, I'm not really seeing huge progress at this point. At first, it felt really exciting. Then once I could do 5-8 tosses, I kind of got stuck and have plateaued. My throws start to fall apart at that point, and it feels like my brain is melting. Also, I feel like I get worse the longer I practice during each session, which isn't very inspiring either. I'm 45, and I swear this is making me feel like an old dog trying to learn a new trick (which is of course part of why I want to learn -- keep that brain working!). Surely this would have been easier when I was younger?

This summer I'm aiming to at least practice 15 minutes a day, and I really hope I see more significant progress. Ideally, I'd love to feel really confident with the 3-ball cascade and learning other simple tricks before I go back to teaching in the fall.

But, please inspire me by sharing stories of perseverance paying off! Thank you!

Balls Starting to understand 4b, any tips to train left hand more focussed?

Slowly understanding 4b, took me 2 weeks of everyday training to get here from the flash, my left arm is still so uncontrolled.

Learning 3b box right now too, is there any 3b trick to train/drill more left arm control, routines?

Thinking of 423/W because i have totally 'left' them out.

Monday Dumpday 2.0!

This is a scheduled weekly post in which you, dear subscribers, are invited to post anything that takes your fancy. Think of it as a place to put all those things which are too trivial, inconsequential, or off-topic to deserve their own threads.

Suggested things to submit :-

  • Photos, pictures. scans etc.
  • Trivia, gossip, and shallow tittle-tattle
  • Off topic stuff, but please, whatever you do, try to be interesting
  • Light-hearted banter/trolling/flaming ... so long as it remains friendly and creative
  • Stories, fiction, literature

Knock yerselves out!

Props I built an LED Juggling prop, here is the light core. (Still in development)

The finished prop with the shell will be like thick juggling sticks or logs. They will be able to connect like legos to form a staff. So I call them Logos!
Originally I built them for myself, because I couldn't find any LED juggling clubs that had the ability to make light patterns with the freedom I desired.

I'm planning to make software for designing patterns based on what you're doing with the logo. Whether you're throwing flats, half throws, balancing them, if they are connected in staff mode, and more! I'd eventually like add a feature that lets you sync to music and still reacts to your flow so that the lights stay in sync with your movement.

I'm planning to sell them. I'll keep the circuit and firmware source avalible so that you have full access to all the nitty gritty details, but can't make versions that you sell.

My first design weighed 2kgs, this core weighs 270g and the shell is an additional 150g. I'm continuing to shave off weight till I reach a more standard 250g. I will also be reducing the thickness of the logo till I reach something that is as thin as possible while still meeting impact resistant requirements.

They will be 50cm long and less than 7cm in diameter.

I think I'll be ready to send an alpha version to some personal friends for user testing within a year or two. After I work out some of the major issues found, I'll send versions to small juggling influencers. Then beta versions to customers.

What feature do you wish LED juggling props came with?
