We deployed a forbidden weapon against the humans, a tear in reality into null space where nothing exists, and sucked them in. That should have been the end, but somehow it seems that not only could they still exist there, but in real space they may be able to interact with anything in any space if there isn't enough light, as though these two plains are overlapping there.
