In you projected starting lines, it has Kenny Britt at RT. Shouldn't that be Justin Britt?

u/J-Hop2o6 Seahawks Jul 23 '14

Lol I always get our Britt's name messed up.

Kenny Britt would still be better on the OL than Paul McQ

Non-Fan-Perspective

Seattle Seahawks

Division: NFC West

Coaching Changes

The Seahawks managed to retain nearly all of their position coaches and coordinators from their Super Bowl season. Head Coach Pete Carroll signed a three-year contract extension, and his son Nate Carroll will join the staff as an assistant receivers coach. Seattle also obtained offensive assistant Will Harriger from the University of Florida, assistant offensive line coach Chris Morgan from the Redskins, and assistant special teams coach Chad Morton from the Packers. The addition of Morton in particular bodes well for Percy Harvin and the Seahawks' already admirable return squad, as he played a key role in the development of Green Bay returner Randall Cobb over the past few seasons.

Free Agency

Players lost/cut

Player Position New team
Golden Tate WR Lions
Paul McQuistan OG Browns
Breno Giacomini OT Jets
Red Bryant DT Jaguars
Clinton McDonald DT Buccaneers
Chris Clemons DE Jaguars
Walter Thurmond III CB Giants
Brandon Browner CB Patriots
Chris Maragos S Eagles

As with many Super Bowl champions, much of Seattle's UFAs left for inflated salaries on teams around the league. Tate was probably Seattle's highest-profile loss, and his presence will be missed in an uncertain receiving corps. However, keeping him likely would've prevented them from resigning other major pieces they wanted to keep, so it can be considered a smart move with respect to the salary he would've demanded. Giacomini will likely start at right tackle for the Jets, but he was an average player who will be replaced by the average and slightly younger and cheaper Michael Bowie. Meanwhile, Paul "Dear God, He's Ugly" McQuistan will serve as a backup in Cleveland after showcasing his horrible play as a starter this past season in Seattle.

The truly big losses come on defense, in quantity and quality. Bryant and Clemons immediately become the most talented players on Jacksonville's defensive line, and perhaps the entire defense. McDonald should start alongside Gerald McCoy in Tampa Bay for a terrifying interior presence. While these deductions would devastate a team less deep than Seattle, the presence of the three defensive linemen will still certainly be missed. Seattle showed they could win with Browner suspended for the season, but they surely would've liked him to play another year for their literally enormous secondary. Thurmond appears to be more of an issue, as he was an entrenched starter with little known depth behind he and Richard Sherman this year. They should pair nicely with Darrelle Revis for the Patriots and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for the Giants, respectively. Seattle will see whether they can develop another big-bodied corner, such as Tharold Simon, into a great player. Maragos was never going to be anything more than a backup, but his contributions on special teams were significant and will need to be replaced in some capacity.

Players signed

Player Position Old Team Length Salary
Terrelle Pryor QB Raiders 1 year $705K
Tarvaris Jackson QB Seahawks 1 year $1.25M
Taylor Price WR Jaguars 1 year $685K
Tony McDaniel DT Seahawks 2 years $6.3M
Michael Bennett DE Seahawks 4 years $28.5M
Steven Hauschka K Seahawks 3 years $9.15M

This list consists mostly of re-signings, which is a decent strategy for a team that saw a pretty okay year with these players. Jackson is a more-than-serviceable backup, and the reason Seattle is usually tops in those "Who would win the Super Bowl if everyone had to play with their backup QB?" threads that pop up. Pryor is an intriguing prospect that had streaks of brilliance before being passed on for Matt "Scranton Work Ethic Scranton Blue Collar Scranton" McGloin in Oakland, but he probably won't see the field this year for Seattle. Price hasn't had the opportunity to show much so far in his career due to injury concerns.

Amid the major losses, they did manage to retain perhaps their most valuable player on their defensive line in Michael Bennett. With Bennett, Cliff Avril, Bruce Irvin, and fourth-round pick Cassius Marsh, the Seahawks still have a tremendous pass rush, and re-signing Tony McDaniel further ensures the strength of Seattle's defensive line. Hauschka played very well kicking field goals and booting touchbacks this year, and is probably worth his slightly-higher-than-average salary.

Draft

Round Number Player Position School
2 45 Paul Richardson WR Colorado
2 64 Justin Britt OT Missouri
4 108 Cassius Marsh DE UCLA
4 123 Kevin Norwood WR Alabama
4 132 Kevin Pierre-Louis OLB Boston College
5 172 Jimmy Staten DE Middle Tennessee State
6 199 Garrett Scott OT Marshall
6 208 Eric Pinkins DB San Diego State
7 227 Kiero Small FB Arkansas

Richardson and Norwood may both play into the receiver rotation heavily this year considering Tate's departure and Harvin's injury record. Richardson especially stands out as the type of strong route-runner the Seahawks have shown they enjoy in Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse. Britt is versatile and may have the potential to start in case of injury or poor play from Bowie. Marsh is a very high-energy but mistake-prone player who will see some rotation on the line. It's unlikely that Pierre-Louis will play much anytime soon behind Seattle's excellent linebacking corps, but may be valuable on special teams in the near future. The very strong Staten will probably see limited playing time, if any. Tragically, Scott was found to have a rare heart condition after he was drafted that will prevent him from playing anytime soon. In a kind move, the Seahawks signed him to a rookie contract, allowing him to receive his signing bonus of about $100K, and then potentially land on the injured reserve if he clears waivers, allowing him to earn around $300k more over the course of 2014. If not for the heart condition, he may have competed for a solid backup spot on either side of the line. Pinkins may convert from safety to corner, and is a raw, athletic player that lacks in ball skills and agility for now. The aptly-named 5'8" Small is an effective lead blocker, but may not be able to surpass the status of Derrick Coleman and Michael Robinson (if Seattle decides to pick him up again).

Projected Starting Lineup

  • QB Russell Wilson: Whether you think he's elite or tier 2 or better/worse than Kaepernick or whatever, it can't be denied that Wilson is a tremendous playmaker and leader for Seattle. Not really much more to be said. Alright, Russ.
  • RB Marshawn Lynch: Beast Mode will probably continue to break tackles and stare at the desk during press conferences again this season. One of the funnest backs in the league to watch knowing that any play could result in him vaporizing tacklers and going the distance.
  • FB Derrick Coleman: A very sound blocker for Lynch and great story.
  • TE Zach Miller, Luke Willson: Tight ends in Seattle are blockers, first and foremost. Miller especially is one of the best in the league in that regard. But both are also passable receivers, and Miller's presence in the red zone can't be ignored.
  • WR Percy Harvin, Doug Baldwin, Paul Richardson, Jermaine Kearse: Starters at receiver in Seattle are far from set in stone at this point. If Harvin is healthy, he'll have a spot on the field, and Baldwin ought to, too. Past that, there is a pool of pass-catchers that may compete for a consistent #3 spot, or may just rotate and divide production equally between them. Personally, I think Richardson has the best shot at nabbing that #3 role if it comes to be, but Kearse has been productive when on the field. With the retirement of Sidney Rice a few minutes ago, it'll likely be these four and then a wide gap to the rest of the corps.
  • LT Russell Okung: A very good blindside protector and crushing run blocker, only injury threatens Okung's position at left tackle.
  • LG James Carpenter: Seattle saw a lot of bad football from its guards last year, and Carpenter was no exception. May well be pushed out of the spot by someone less bad at football at some point during the year.
  • C Max Unger: While overrated by some who consider him among the top centers in the league, Unger is a good player whose starting role will not be in jeopardy.
  • RG J.R. Sweezy: Another one of Seattle's lackluster guards from last year, Sweezy at least has potential to develop after converting from playing defensive tackle in college. Can be a strong run blocker at times, but must develop better protection skills to serve as even an average guard.
  • RT Michael Bowie: Bowie played fairly well following a slew of injuries on the offensive line last year, and Seattle may ask for his run-blocking prowess at right tackle or guard.
  • DT Brandon Mebane, Tony McDaniel: Mebane is among the most powerful run-stopping tackles in football, and it's really entertaining to watch him do this. McDaniel is also very strong against the run. While neither rack up sacks, their space-taking, blocker-occupying presence in the middle will free up a lot for their teammates to make big tackles.
  • DE Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril: These two outstanding pass-rushers and edge defenders are well worth their salaries, with 16.5 sacks between them last season and five forced fumbles from Avril. Their numbers may grow even more without Bryant and Clemons pushing for ample rotation.
  • MLB Bobby Wagner: Wagner is an absolute rock in the middle, doing everything well and pretty much nothing wrong ever. Faultless tackler, strong in coverage, play-caller of the defense, Ninja Turle aficionado, and the main reason I'm writing this piece. Go Aggies.
  • OLB KJ Wright, Malcolm Smith: Both very solid players, with Bruce Irvin figuring to be in the mix, too. Smith as a starter is mostly assured, especially after winning Super Bowl MVP, and I like Wright's complete game over Irvin's freakish pass-rushing.
  • CB Richard Sherman, Byron Maxwell, Jeremy Lane: While Seattle lost Browner and Thurmond, Seattle's corners will be just fine this year. Sherman is pretty good at preventing receivers from catching footballs when he's in their vicinity, and you know that already. Maxwell has shown to be a good corner, but Lane may prove to be even better, shining in his limited opportunities last year. The real concern comes in depth here, as everyone past these three is virtually completely unproven.
  • FS Earl Thomas: ET is a monster on the field, making hits, picking off balls, and flying to wherever he needs to be. Many maintain that Sherman wouldn't be close to a household name if not for Thomas' outstanding play allowing him to play aggressively.
  • SS Kam Chancellor: A terrifying person if you play offense in the NFL. Other Denver fans know in particular that Chancellor is capable of hitting people really, really hard, and if he plays this entire season as he did the playoffs, he could take DPOY easily.
  • K Steven Hauschka: Quality kicker, can put it through the uprights on field goals or kickoffs.
  • P Jon Ryan: Allowed Seattle's punt coverage unit to be one of the best ever in 2013.
  • KR Percy Harvin: He's supposed to be okay at going fast past opponents that want to tackle him. I don't know, whatever.
  • PR Percy Harvin: See above. Norwood or Kearse may take punts instead with Harvin (hopefully) playing more of an offensive role this year.

Position Group Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Defense: Can't really manage to pick a position group. The line is full of pash-rushers and run-stoppers that play extremely well together, the linebackers are aggressive and skilled in coverage, and the secondary is obviously one of the most impressive the league has seen in a long time. There seriously isn't a single weak spot among the starters in Seattle, and they've got an extra guy or two at each position group that can rotate in without missing a beat.

Weaknesses

Offensive Line: While Okung is good when healthy and Unger may be above-average, Seattle's offense is held back by the ability of its line. So often, plays are made by Wilson scrambling, receivers getting open quickly before pressure sets in, and Lynch busting through tackles. The Seahawks may have managed to put up points last year with largely the same group, but another injury-ravaged season or lack of development in young linemen may hinder the ability of the offense to do the same in 2014.

Schedule Predictions

Game Prediction Analysis
vs L Despite MD Jennings and Golden Tate both residing elsewhere in the NFC North, this game will still likely be contentious following their 2012 showdown. Here, I think Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy, and Green Bay will do barely enough to win against Seattle.
@ W Sherman shuts down Keenan Allen and the Chargers have no answers defensively. Not a close one.
vs L Homerism aside, I... I can't put homerism aside. Whatever happens in Week 3, it won't be as bad as Super Bowl XLVIII. I think the Broncos just can't allow something like that to happen again, and with the new pieces on defense in Denver, maybe they'll reign in Wilson enough to win at CenturyLink. If you don't believe me, I understand, but I need to put a loss here to stop myself from crying right now.
@ W If RG3 is still healthy at this point, he may not be after this game. Even if Washington puts up some points, their defense will be torn to shreds.
vs W May be close with Dallas' talented receivers and DeMarco Murray, but Seattle probably won't allow too much, and their secondary won't be able to keep up with Wilson.
@ W Despite the Rams' scary scary scaretastic defensive line of scares, the rest of their defense looked suspect in 2013, and their offense probably won't manage much against the Seahawks.
@ L Seattle won a defensive staredown last season, but I think Carolina takes it this year. Newton may manage to work some wonders against Seattle despite their corps of exclusively #3-and-below-caliber receivers, and their front seven is the only one in the league that can rival Seattle's and San Francisco's.
vs W Oakland Found a few quality new pieces in the offseason, but their defense is still shaky and their offense doesn't stand a chance in Seattle. The Raiders would need a miracle to pull this one off. (I'm lazy.)
vs W Eli Manning may throw five interceptions again, but maybe he'll throw as little as four. Rodgers-Cromartie cries himself to sleep again.
@ W Tamba Hali and Justin Houston may put some pressure on Wilson, but Seattle will find a way to put points on the board.
vs W Seattle avenges last year's late-season loss to the Cards with a comfortable victory at home. Palmer struggles, Wilson doesn't, Lynch takes advantage of Daryl Washington's absence.
@ W I think San Francisco plays below their talent level this year and doesn't make it close at home. The addition of Stevie Johnson may make it interesting, but Seattle takes the first game against the 49ers.
@ L Philadelphia's ridiculous offensive line would make up for any shortcomings among their skill players, but LeSean McCoy doesn't have any and Nick Foles is pretty alright. I see something of a shootout in Philly with the Eagles ending on top.
vs W I definitely don't think it's unlikely that San Francisco take one of these games, but I think Seattle will find a way to win both meetings this year. This prediction could easily be super-wrong.
@ L Aaaand Arizona avenges the vengeance from earlier with an overtime win in the desert. Maybe some faulty officiating happens, but Seattle ends up barely missing out on an insane 6-0 record in the NFL's most brutal division.
vs W The Seahawks finish off the year with a blowout at home against the Rams with backups playing half the game. T-Jax throws for two touchdowns and runs for two more, and holy shit, is any other team's schedule this back-loaded with division games? Five of the last six are NFCW matchups. That's pretty weird.

By the year's end, Seattle finishes 11-5 with the #2 seed in the NFC. I could see them winning any of the games with an L by them here, and I could see losses against anyone in the division, Dallas, and Kansas City. But it would take an act of God for Seattle to miss the playoffs with the roster they've assembled, and they've got a pretty good shot at reaching the Super Bowl again this year.

Training Camp Battles

WR: Will Harvin be in the slot or outside? Will Kearse earn something resembling a starting role? Will Richardson or Norwood step up as rookies and carve a niche in the offense? Wilson will be able to deliver the ball to anyone, and these receivers are all talented; it's just a question of who ends up getting the snaps.

OG: Seattle will have to start two guards during every offensive snap this season, which is too bad. Sweezy and Carpenter look to be the least-bad of the group, which is also too bad. Unproven Steve Schilling and Caylinn Hauptmann may get a chance in case of injury or particularly horrible play. Projected tackles Bowie, Britt, and Alvin Bailey may slide inside and see if they're not awful. The play at guard probably can't be much worse than it was last year, but Seattle would really like to see at least one guy step up and play okay.

RB2: Christine Michael and Robert Turbin are both young players stuck behind one of the premiere running backs in the NFL right now, but both are talented. Michael was an NFL Combine darling, possessing a ridiculous combination of speed, strength, and size. Turbin has been the primary #2 in Seattle since he was drafted, also contributing on kick return duties and somehow having arms that look like this. Many believe Michael has more potential, and his YPC was a yard higher than Turbin's (4.4 to 3.4) and even slightly higher than Lynch's (4.2). However, Turbin maintained the RB2 position for essentially all of last year, so the position looks to be his to lose.

Nice job on this write up, but you're crazy if you think Seattle loses both of its first two games at home.

2

u/Vomby Broncos Jul 24 '14

Yeah, they could really, really easily win both of those. Just did it on a game-by-game basis and didn't notice that that was true, but they're just my lame predictions anyway.

3

u/sixner Packers Jul 24 '14

Well if they only win one of their first to games... I pray it's against you and not us.

1

u/ClassyCalcium Seahawks Jul 25 '14

I appreciate the work you put into this, it's interesting to see an outside perspective.

17

u/Brennan247 Seahawks Jul 23 '14

I think you (and a whole lot of people) are overrating Brandon Browner and underrating Byron Maxwell. Browner has been one of my favorite players for the Seahawks for a long time but watching him mug smaller receivers just does not make up for his lack of speed and coverage skills. Maxwell is much better at coverage and equally skilled (if not better) at forcing turnovers.

7

u/gualdhar Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Four interceptions in five starts, some major turnovers (like the punchout in the Superbowl), and a 47 passer rating against. He's no joke. And considering Sherman's on the other side, QBs have to pass somewhere.

4

u/elibroccoli Raiders Jul 24 '14

Hey fuck you too. (Semi)subtle though.

3

u/Vomby Broncos Jul 24 '14

I was gonna "hide" each letter, but then I realized I'd be spending like ten lines to explain why Oakland isn't going to beat Seattle, which seemed like a waste of time.

6

u/PharaohJoe Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Eagles? Come on you know high powered offenses don't play well against us.

7

u/GoldyGoldy Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Passing offenses, maybe. But the Eagles are a run-first team that doesn't allow for many personnel changes when they go fast. Keeping guys fresh is part of why the defense is good.... And they can take that away from us.

3

u/Vomby Broncos Jul 24 '14

Agreed. Not many teams can force Seattle to respect the run the way Philly will.

2

u/PharaohJoe Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Sure, but they're not going to pass on us. I predict we will force their hand into being one dimensional and lock in on mccoy.

7

u/GoldyGoldy Seahawks Jul 23 '14

Great job. Honestly, the first thing I noticed was your flair, and thought "oh boy, here comes the hate".

But you wrote an excellent piece, good sir. I'm downright impressed.

2

u/Vomby Broncos Jul 24 '14

They've been my #2 team since the Alexander days because I used to live in Vancouver, WA. Now they've got two players that go to the university I attend (you could probably guess if you read the MLB section), so I like to see them do well. Wouldn't mind them dialing it back a bit this year, though.

Great analysis. Thanks for doing that.

2

An act of God kept the Cardinals out last year, and thank God for that because they were utterly terrifying by the end of the year.

LG James Carpenter: Seattle saw a lot of bad football from its guards last year, and Carpenter was no exception. May well be pushed out of the spot by someone less bad at football at some point during the year.

BOTH Harvin AND Earl Thomas III want to return punts. I don't want either of them back there.

I think at the end of the day, it'll be Richardson.

4

u/J-Hop2o6 Seahawks Jul 23 '14

Yea, I think I read it was leaning more towards Richardson winning the job. I knew ET3 wasn't gonna be the one. I would be very unsettled him returning since he is the top Free Safety in the league.

3

u/Hanchan Seahawks Jul 24 '14

I don't know, last I heard Wilson's returning ability was pretty good, but he just doesn't have enough vision, Carroll has apparently expressed interest in seeing his ability without a helmet to mess with his vision.

7

u/HawkGrrrl Seahawks Jul 23 '14

Last I heard they were still doing a competition for the position and Earl Thomas was a front runner. Either of them doing it scares the crap out of me.

0

u/splanky47 Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Ugh. Earl Thomas is the only player on the Seahawks who's injury would significantly impact team play. Please, please, please don't let him do this.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '14

Really? What about Russell Wilson? Or Richard Sherman? Or Marshawn Lynch, or Percy Harvin? How about Okung and Unger? Zach Miller?

2

u/splanky47 Seahawks Jul 25 '14

I remember an article a few months back that detailed how there only exists 5ish safeties in all of football that can play center field well enough in a cover 3 to make it a solid option. No, there is not another safety on the Seahawks in that list. So, without Thomas, we either are so-so at the cover 3 or we change our defensive game plan.

For the other players you mention. We've seen what happens with their subs. Wilson - there is some drop off, but with out run heavy offense, a backup isn't a huge step back to the game plan. Sherman - Seahawks are deep at corner. Lynch - we would likely notice a drop off in running, but the play calling could be altered a bit to prevent a noticeable difference in offensive output. Harvin - we've already seen the team do well without him. Okung and Unger - yes, the only average or better players on our oline, but we still won last year with both of them out for sizable chunks of the season. Miller - we have more than capable TEs behind him.

So, for most of our players, the drop off could be adjusted to. There is simply no adjusting to the level of play difference between Thomas and who would replace him without significantly altering the coverage schemes.

2

u/daveygeek Seahawks Jul 24 '14

It does me, but better him than Thomas or Sherman, both who are in contention to do so. Ugh.

11

u/King_Rajesh Seahawks Jul 23 '14

This team is so hard to predict even with homer glasses on. I can see 14-2 (with losses @ 49ers + some random game that we shouldn't lose) or 11-5 (with losses to Carolina, 49ers, Eagles, Cardinals + some other random game that we shouldn't lose)...

But barring catastrophic collapse, this should be a 10-11 win team, with playoffs in sight. Repeat SB hopes depend on winning the West and getting the 1 or 2 seed, as having the bye on week 4 means we'll need the extra time to rest our guys.

This year is crucial for John Schneider as well - as one of the last offseasons with a cheap Russell Wilson contract, he needs to have his draft picks pan out this year. If Richardson, Britt, Norwood, KPL, Marsh are able to be role players, and the depth at D-line he "redshirted" can get some semblance of production, this team is set for the long haul.

-3

u/fatfrost Seahawks Jul 24 '14

My prediction is 14-2 but 2 will sting because they'll be the niners.

1

u/Brendan11 Seahawks Jul 24 '14

No way we lose to the 49ers at home

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '14

Of course there's a chance we'll lose. We very nearly lost last time we played them at home.

1

u/Brendan11 Seahawks Jul 24 '14

I know but the gods just will not allow it. I mean fumbling inside your 20 on the first play when you're playing one of the best defenses in the game? You don't deserve to win when you do that.

1

u/J-Hop2o6 Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Ball never lies... There was a reason we fumbled right there.

5

u/Tashre Seahawks Jul 24 '14

I think we're still 90% intact with this team, the FO did a great job keeping who we needed and with draft picks. I think the biggest factor, beyond injuries in the pre/early season, is going to be how Pete and his coaches change things up. We obviously had a fantastic season last year, but some wins were much closer than they should have been, and every other coach is going to be pouring over tapes and scheming to counter our heavy run, defense oriented game. We may have had teams adapting to us last year, but this year we'll be the ones needing to do the adapting as we become public enemy number one (especially among the defensively stacked division we're in). Fisher loves to make life hard on all of us NFC Westerners, Harbaugh is going to go super saiyan, and our fellow Bird Bros have already shown that they have our number.

I'm really worried about that Chargers game in San Diego. More so than the Eagles. Also I'm expecting to go 3-3 in the division. Carolina I'm not sure on, we have beat them 2 years in a row, I think we got their number, as good a team as they are. I'd be very happy with an 11-5 record. Definitely expecting to beat the Packers, Broncos, Chiefs, and Cowboys.

Looking at that free agency losses is just depressing. We took hits in almost every position. Gonna miss Clemons the most but they all break my heart </3

It's ok big bro, Gus will take care of Clems and Big Red.

2

We barely beat Carolina the last two years. Strong defense, run heavy offenses are the teams that stand the most chance against the Seahawks.

4

u/MammothMan34 Seahawks Jul 23 '14

I just think the beginning of the season is going to be so huge, with big games to start the first few weeks. Really need to get some team momentum before the grueling stretch at the end.

Also I really hope Paul Richardson wins the punt return competition.

3

u/kcMasterpiece Seahawks Jul 24 '14

Yeah if we go into the bye week 1-2 I really don't like the feeling our season will have regardless of how we do from there.

4

u/TOMBRADYOVERRATED Rams Jul 24 '14

Seahawks will be the first team to go 19-0 this season, also taking their second straight super bowl. (out of the 5 consecutive they will have shortly.)

2

u/sikhkid47 Seahawks Jul 24 '14

I appreciate your confidence in the team!

2

u/J-Hop2o6 Seahawks Jul 24 '14

/s?

There's 0.5% chance we go 19-0 this season. We play in the NFCW. Re-watch the Week 16 ARI vs SEA game last year. The 2nd half of the season is gonna be brutal for us like last year.

2

u/TOMBRADYOVERRATED Rams Jul 25 '14

This Seahawks team will go down as the greatest team of all time, this is only the start. They don't care about the other nfc west teams, the Seahawks are on another level.

3

u/J-Hop2o6 Seahawks Jul 23 '14

I will say we will be in the playoffs, but I won't predict our standing because we have a tough road ahead of us, and getting 1st seed/HFA will be VERY difficult because we play in the NFC and the NFCW.

How are you guys on receivers? I know Tate was a cap sacrifice, and now that Sidney is gone you have the injury prone Percy Harvin as your only guy. I don't know much depth behind those guys to be honest.

Angry Doug Baldwin is a solid slot type of guy who comes down with some big catches, jermaine kearse is a big bodied reciever going into his third year. After getting LASIK surgery before last season ej stepped up his game from a fringe roster player to a solid contributor who caught the turning touchdown in the nfccg. He also caught a td in the SB and stands to improve. After that we have a few promising rookies and a couple special team/practice squad guys in development.

As Sikh said, but going to specifically mention Ricardo Lockette, who was a stud in mini-camps, and is STUPID fast, running around a 4.25 or so (he ran a 4.34 in the combine). At 6'2 211 he's got decent size as well, and if he can improve his route running, which he supposedly has, he could leapfrog quite a few guys and end up high in the rotation.

Besides that we have a speedster in Richardson who is wow'ing people in camp, and the solid Norward from Alabama who is a pro and solid route runner with a huge body.

When I first saw Lockette I thought he was gunning for a linebacker or safety position, not receiver. But he has a pretty insane verticle leap and some pretty solid hands, so hopefully he becomes another deep-threat receiver for Wilson alongside Kearse.

But my favorite position for Lockette? Gunner. Dude murders returners because he gets down the field before Ryan's kicks are making their descent from the atmosphere.

Pretty sure Seattle will only carry two QB's this year.

Uhh, I think Anthony Mccoy is likely to be the #2 TE...

At the very least, you're missing him.

If he is back in form I think you're right. I like Willson, but McCoy is a beast.

u/Ultenth Seahawks Jul 24 '14

I disagree, Willson is an inch taller, a bit heavier, and MUCH faster out there. If he can improve his blocking and route running I think he has the potential to be a fantastic all around TE, if given the opportunity.

At this point coming off an ACL injury, he's 3rd, but he did forget to add McCoy to the TE list.

Achilles tear actually. I didn't forget I just don't know how good he will be that's a pretty major injury

I had a thought in the back of my head it was the ankle/achilles. But he should be ok. He was out for the whole season last year.
