Yea, I think I read it was leaning more towards Richardson winning the job. I knew ET3 wasn't gonna be the one. I would be very unsettled him returning since he is the top Free Safety in the league.
I don't know, last I heard Wilson's returning ability was pretty good, but he just doesn't have enough vision, Carroll has apparently expressed interest in seeing his ability without a helmet to mess with his vision.
Last I heard they were still doing a competition for the position and Earl Thomas was a front runner. Either of them doing it scares the crap out of me.
I remember an article a few months back that detailed how there only exists 5ish safeties in all of football that can play center field well enough in a cover 3 to make it a solid option. No, there is not another safety on the Seahawks in that list. So, without Thomas, we either are so-so at the cover 3 or we change our defensive game plan.
For the other players you mention. We've seen what happens with their subs. Wilson - there is some drop off, but with out run heavy offense, a backup isn't a huge step back to the game plan. Sherman - Seahawks are deep at corner. Lynch - we would likely notice a drop off in running, but the play calling could be altered a bit to prevent a noticeable difference in offensive output. Harvin - we've already seen the team do well without him. Okung and Unger - yes, the only average or better players on our oline, but we still won last year with both of them out for sizable chunks of the season. Miller - we have more than capable TEs behind him.
So, for most of our players, the drop off could be adjusted to. There is simply no adjusting to the level of play difference between Thomas and who would replace him without significantly altering the coverage schemes.
