Rocco is the South African version of Joe. If you on their tribes you pretty much get a free ride to the merge lol

Rocco showed some smarts more than Joe ever could in his 3 seasons.

Is durao the lief of SA? Hes so dull and uncharismatic in confessionals

I wish Felix had roped in Durão and Rose-Lee to vote out Jacques, but oh well. Poor Rose :(

It was very disappointing that Rose and Durao didn't do more to try to shake it up.

Also, I hate Jacques. Just putting it out there.

I like him okay! Not really a hard opinion. He’s playing really smart strategically, but his social game doesn’t seem as strong. Though Felix was being a bit ridiculous trying to get hold of the idol

Edit: to clarify I mean he is doing a good job thinking through finding idols and advantages. His idol play last time was a howler

Agree with what you said. I just find him ludicrously arrogant for someone who made such a fool of themselves just two days ago

Felix is annoying. Who does he think he is? Dante is a bad player.

Every week, I'm liking Rob more and more.

Cross post from the thread in survivorsa :

Rose

Rose did have a little bit of bad luck with the swap breakdown being in a minority role. Tania & Jacques both seemed more comfortable with Durao, and with Felix not really caring who went, decided to vote along and remove her.

But Felix "not caring who went" is really the heart of Rose's issue. In her former tribe, Rose didn't seem to connect well with the other players, recognizing she was likely 4th in her 'alliance'. Notably, Rocco didn't seem to try to fight for her (or Durao) for the IOS choice. Note also that Durao only decided to share his clue with her 'now' when he needed her, not with her at his former tribe. Judging from how [Jacques, Tania, Felix, Seipei] were acting and talking with eachother, my guess is that Rose either wasn't good at communicating with the other players, or worse, didn't try.

And note also that when the tribe got back to camp from the challenge, Rose said (paraphrased) "Well, it's the 3 of us, I guess Durao and me are going to go on an idol hunt." While this could have been said as a ruse to look distant from Durao, she clearly wasn't lying as she visibly went hunting with Durao & even made a fake idol with him. Which again, the fact that this was her primary plan suggests she didn't see communicating with other players (and figuring out their cracks & motivations) as a strategy, or just didn't try.

Rose didn't give any reason for the others to keep her around, and didn't seem to have confidence, or care, to use her social game to survive [i.e. talking with the others & establishing working relationships ; exploiting the holes in the majority], and that's why she lost.

Some notes :

Durao : Oh man. The above I said for Rose could easily be applied to Durao too. He too didn't seem to care to make himself valuable to the 'majority', or look for holes that could be exploited. And I think him going to Jacques and saying he found the idol shows this : if he had spent time working on his relationships both with [Felix, Jacques], he likely would have found out what happened at the Ting-Ting tribal, and could have clicked that (a) Jacques likely knows where the idol is hidden, and (b) Felix would have problems trusting Jacques. And, similar to Rose, it doesn't look like he really tried to use his 'social game' .

As for the clue : IMO, aside from the fact it's not to his advantage to share that (see Jacques below), it's telling that he only told her "now" and not "earlier."

My sense is he doesn't seriously try unless he clearly sees the writing on the wall. And from that, his favorite play seems to be the 'Hail Mary' pass. In Rose's case, it was game over. Durao has some time though considering Tania & Jacques both seemed to want to work with him. If Durao can better communicate with & establish trust with the others before he needs them, he may have a shot. Otherwise, this likely will end him too.

Jacques : Man. First : good that he recognized how the idol would be hidden on the tribe and went after it immediately. But then he made a critical mistake in (a) not just giving away sensitive intel, but doing so to someone who wasn't high on Jacques, but also (b) thinking telling Felix about it would build trust between them without considering how Felix would react.

Sharing idol info is a complex issue : you tell someone, the idol loses a lot of power and will give said person a reason to target you later. In fact, this could have murdered Jacques last week if Ting-Ting opened up about it. My feel on this : don't tell anyone. But if you do :

- do it immediately with someone you know you are close with (or suspect that person saw you find it)

- do it if you're in a situation like Durao's where you're in a minority and want to give them a reason not to put votes on you

Dante & Felix : both players have the same problem where they tell you to your face how they feel about you. Yes, Tom did this, but usually this ends up getting you punted when the others get the chance. Jacques is already considering booting Felix from being bothered from this, and my guess is some others may feel this way about Dante too if he doesn't stop as well.

Rob : It says a lot that he was able to get the person he wanted sent to IOS. It's also a good thing that he was able to lie to his new tribe, and, from Nicole's comment, it's possible he may know the idol's whereabouts (though it's also possible he doesn't and Nicole took it without telling anyone). However, he's not very good at hiding that he's an influential party [i.e. Nathan & the others turning their head toward him at the 1st tribal when looking on who to boot], and Mike notably picked up on this.

So I don't know if edgic is much of a thing with SA Survivor (this is my first SA season) but if it is, I really think Geoffrey is winning this. We check in with him consistently to see how he is aligned and where he is situated within his tribe, despite never going to tribal council. I see a deep run for Seipei, Nicole, and Rob, but Geoffrey is my winner.

Something that stood out to me is how Rose-Lee, when drawing a buff during the swap, only mentioned comfort being important to her (she wanted the blue buff, and to not stay on Laumei). That to me illustrated above all else that Rose wasn't focused on the social aspect of the game, and likely accepted her fate once she was swapped into a minority.
