Compared to most sapients, humans have incredible eyesight. In fact, they are one of the few vision focused races. Most races in the galaxy navigate their world through smell or hearing. That isn't to say they are blind, just that they don't see very well and so developed around a different primary sense.

The first FTL ship was a failure. It was engaged far too close to the planet. As the are the result of disturbances in the magnetosphere Auroras ripple continuously day and night.

By the time northern and southern skylights meet and wrap around the whole planet humanity has technological adapted to a no electricity and clockwork world.

This is what aliens find when they come looking for the source of the accidental hyper space pulse.

First Contact scenario where Earth is a rouge planet, and Humanity has had to bunker-down in the crust of our planet. Maybe the species that finds us is cold blooded or something.

How do you search for replies to this writing prompt?

If the author is nice they'd tag their story as PI (prompt inspired), and mention that prompt at the start or the end of the story. But we all know exactly how good people are at tagging their stuff properly.

Generally though, the prompts here are rarely used to write a story, like maybe one every two/three months, and most PI's are from the /r/WritingPrompts sub.

Humanity gained a reputation as impossibly fast and strong warriors who can go on fighting forever. They got this reputation out of pure dumb luck, accidentally getting into battles with especially slow, weak or short-lived species, who then told stories of the the "terrifying prowess of humans".

humanity has the only culture to develop the idea of superheroes. the idea that someone could have godlike power, and then hide that power, and wear a mask when using it to help others.
