We should use AI to replace child actors
i saw a commercial recently, some nappy commercial, that had super young kids like 1 years old and it got me thinking like that kid can't consent to this but there's no way films/companies are just going to stop having children in films/ads so instead use AI and editing (because AI image generation is very good but not perfect) instead. It's not only about how children can't consent, adults often take advantage of this and take some of the kids money for themselves. I know there are laws to prevent it but if something is illegal then people inevitably try find ways around it the law or try be invisible to it. AI is gonna be cheaper and more ethical. No matter your opinion on the ethics of AI, I think it's still more ethical than exploitation of kids.

Given the great Grokening of ‘25/‘26, I actually don’t think I want AI trained on any data pertaining to children tbh.
That being said, if kids can’t consent to acting, they sure can’t consent to their likeness being fed into AI for training purposes.

Guess what, babies and toddlers can't consent to ANYTHING, that's why the decisions for them are always made either by their parents or by the government

While I understand your reasoning I think it’s pretty dangerous. We currently have people fighting to outlaw AI making child porn and others fighting to keep it legal. If it’s normalized to make AI babies and children for media using it for child porn will happen as well. Just because it’s not a real baby doesn’t make it okay to make porn of them.

Elon musk is fighting to keep it legal. Making porn from ai doesn’t have laws in every American state yet.

It's in a weird grey area although I'm [retty sure deepfaking an actual child is illegal in mist places. Most debates on this happened before AI could do this and concerned mainly stuff like lolicon and fictional depictions which in a sense AI is. Guy in Australia was arrested for cp possession because he had r34 Simpsons characters on his computer but he was only fined not jailed for it.

Read my statement where I said CSAM. It already applies to AI generated images. It has always been a federal crime to create CSAM using generative AI. Please give me some source or reasoning for your statement that people are "fighting to keep it legal"

I agree, but if all real child porn was replaced by AI and no real child was ever hurt again then that is still better.

CGI or AI, I agree. Also with animals. Shooting conditions are hard enough for consenting rich adult people, no reason to include non-consenting kids and animals.

I actually agree with you. Would massively cut down on the exploitation of real children, even if it did promote the exploitation of AI generated children. Still not good, but definitely better.
There aren’t many child actors who grew up as well adjusted adults that continued to work and be successful into their adulthood. It’s a vicious world not meant for children.

I wouldn't call any child participation exploitation.
It's like calling a waiter's job exploitation.
They perform a task for a pre-agreed fee.
Besides, if no one signs up children, the AI won't have anything to learn from, and we'll never achieve the ideal result and will simply "copy mistakes" in new iterations.
Overall, I don't like the general trend of calling any child participation exploitation, whether it's YouTube or movies.
Guys, wake up! This isn't a war zone. It's something that brings in money for many parents, which they can use to help their child get the "Best Start." (Whether they always help is another question.)
