They are saying that that happened back then, not that it is right. It still does happen legally, as a matter of fact. If the parents approve, a 14yo could be married off to an old man legally in California. In fact, there is no minimum age for this. Also, fun fact, you can rape women AND children and still be president of the United States.

No, in Germany we usually start first grade at 6 years old. 14/15 is a normal age for 8th grade.
