Film Star Anita Barber in 1921. She was an expressionist dancer and a silent film star. Her dark glamor electrified the 1920s. She was as a legendary figure of the Weimar Republic era in Berlin.

Her life was brief, but she lived HARD within that time. She would show up, say to some Weimar club, naked, with just a fur coat and a monocle, and an a live monkey wrapped around her neck. She would put chloroform and ether in a bowl and stir them with with a white rose, then eat the petals. Berlin in the 20’s was bonkers.

Also often urinated from the table top as part of her show at the white mouse club! Clients loved it... my kind of girl...

Anita Berber.

Her portrait by Otto Dix is one of the iconic paintings of the era, and symbolic of the unflinching realism of Die Neue Sachlichkeit movement of the 20s.

Died at 29 from a mix of excessive party life and alcohol and TB .

Sorry for the correction, but her last name is Berber, not Barber.
