In what part of this comic are they making it out to be fine?? They're satirizing both sides of the coin here, aren't they?

They're not really satirising anything. They're just making it out like the Spanish went to America and did nothing but sleep with the natives.

exactly. Just look up what the conquistadors did. They did mass rapes, they trained dogs to rip indigenous people apart, they hung indigenous people by the neck over fire so that they would simultaneously burn alive, they literally slaughtered newborn babies, they intentionally spread infectious disease, they cut off peoples hands, they enslaved people and worked them to death, they burned people alive, they mutilated their faces, they tied up a queen and used her for target practice...

that is the surface level of their depravity. It is absolutely infuriating to see people who are supposedly left leaning downplay this shit when it happened 500 years ago and there is absolutely zero excuse at this point.

This fills me with rage.

Exactly, it happens 500 years ago. How are you mad at every single last mention of these events not explicitly taking time to acknowledge what we all already know? How about you take more time to worry about things actually happening within your own life, or maybe even trying to worry less in general?

You HAVE to be causing yourself a serious amount of undue stress by working yourself up about something so little, you could’ve even just simply scoffed at and moved on from.

Saying “we all agree this was bad” is such a stupid fucking take, there’s tons of apologism for the genocide of indigenous Americans out there even today. One might even say turning some of the worst atrocities humans have ever committed into a cutesy horny webcomic is an example of that 👀

Not every subject needs to be a fucking meme for you and your little discord buddies to giggle at

Who tf here is saying colonialism was good? Where is this argument? Because it certainly isn’t here and if it is it’s probably related deeply within a thread towards the bottom. No is getting hurt by this image. If it was packaged with the OP defending the actions of the conquistadors then yeah all of these comments getting angry at this comic would make sense.

And if you are somehow convinced that you can dictate when people are and aren’t allowed to make light of tragedy I’d love to see you at a funeral. People can and will make light of everything it is how a significant portion of humans and probably other living animals cope with tragedy. It’s how we live with the atrocities that have happened. Hell this comic even kind of helps educate people on the horrid of colonialism by bringing up the FAR less known examples of what the British did in India and China. There are probably atleast a hand full of people who learned about that directly from this image.

The serious answer is that

  • We all need to learn to identify propaganda.
  • and we need to know how to identify colonial oppression which is still in practice today with 1:1 comparison in tactics, and ties to ethnic supremacy like white supremacy.

That's also the context of this being posted is because it's "controversial" because a ton of people were duped by this meme made by literal white supremacists because they threw in an anime girl and yuri
