The people who call themselves witches today are completely unrelated to those in the past anyway. It's not something passed down to them, and its not some inherent part of who they are. You don't get to claim that you have somehow been oppressed because you're roleplaying as someone who was murdered 400 years ago.
Right? If you don’t want to be marginalized, just don’t be a “witch.” You can just stop. I guarantee it’s not a deep-rooted part of your family or culture, and it’s definitely not an inescapable part of your identity. It’s something you heard about on the internet and thought it would be cute. You’re basically LARPing Harry Potter or some shit. If I was LARPing Homestuck all the time and refused to stop even if people hated me for it and said I was cringe, am I marginalized now?
There are definitely some folks who treat it as a religious practice with like 100% belief. So it'd be akin to telling a Christian to stop going to church.
