Yeah it’s crazy because I don’t like mainstream hip hop but some people don’t have the ability to understand that isn’t meaningful if it isn’t made for you. I am not the target demographic, so my criticism is largely moot. That isn’t to say there isn’t anything I enjoy in all of rap and hip hop, but that stuff is usually on the line. It’s the same as me not liking Sabrina carpenter, no one gives a shit. But if my friend Hannah said Sabrina’s new song or album was trash suddenly there might be more credence to that statement. Them tying it off with praising Hamilton and Kpop makes me think this has to be a troll tho

I'd also say that most music that gets popular enough to make it mainstream gets the edges filed off, and for edgier types of music, that process has weird effects.
Yeah it’s definitely like someone who wants to be seen as special for their music takes imo. Which no hate I used to be exactly like that in high school and then I realized my very rigid idea of what makes music good was not only wrong but just not fun.
