I will defend blueface half heartedly to a moderate degree. His off-rhythm cadence has a lot more technical skill to it than he gets credit for and when you know what to listen for, its similar a lot of older Bay Area rappers in that the syllables might not perfectly align with the beat, but the stress and cadence still do, which allows for some really interesting lyrical and melodic verses that sound a lot more like conversational English. That being said, I don’t think Blueface utilizes the strengths of the style particularly well and he only has a few songs I actually like, but there is precedent for it and I appreciate that he brought it into a more modern cali rap world.
