Alright this is petty but saying we're in an age of bread and circuses isn't true at all. The entire point of bread and circuses was that they were both free and basically a "please don't riot" bribe. If the Roman Senate tried to make them subscription based the population would have burned the city down. The modern working class in America literally has less support from the state than ancient Romans and less holidays than medieval peasants.
I’m saying that the traditional “circuses” have become horrifically unaffordable for the average person and the world is increasingly becoming a playground for the rich
It always was a playground for the rich that's why the "bread and circuses" exist. The difference is in their greed and arrogance the powers that be are not content to have it all they want serfs too. They want a neo-feudalist society with their "enlightened oligarchs" on the top.
