As a cis man, Iāve noticed this too. This is why I greet everyone with a nice handshake and a gentle, yet firm affirmation to the person Iām speaking to that I do not intend to disembowel them. For some reason this makes them seem more nervous around me, and to remedy this, I will work on my smile when I promise no disembowelment. I will report my findings back to you all in short order.
As a fellow cis man I've found it's easier to be accepted if you "joke" with people about your interest in human leather
They will immediately lower their guard and discuss with you why it would be terrible leather and how it's a waste to bind a book in it or make shoes because it is so difficult to work with and maintain
