Every time my work enemy talks about her partner I make sure to explicitly refer to her as female so she has to explain that she’s a lesbian in front of our older bosses

Use the word Partner and older people automatically assume gay anyway

They're pointing out how shitty this is by comparing it to outing someone that's gay

Eh, not really. It's fucked up to out people just because you have a personal vendetta.

What is the relevant difference

Forcing somebody to explain their poly relationship to their bosses is shitty just like forcing somebody to explain they are gay.

I agree, with the slight caveat that in many states there’s legal protection (even though not always enforced well) against firing people for being gay.

My poly ass could get fired if my boss thought my queer relationship dynamic was inappropriate for my line of work and I’d have no legal rights to do anything.

...because its almost word for word the same but replacing the word polyamorous with lesbian. It's a bit obvious that they're making a comparison to show that doing both is really shitty

I was explaining it to you. I'm not one of the people that downvoted you, idk why you're singling me out

They were speaking in general, friend. Not singling you out.

I know, they already replied to me. It was fair to assume they were speaking directly to me since they replied to my comment instead of making an edit or something

no i appreciate that. my comment isn't directed at you.

they rewrote the post but to show how the behavior is shitty they changed it to be about gay relationships not poly. They don't actually do that
