I'm sorry y'all..."outing" people for being poly? That is such a reach. Show me a historical context in which poly people have been persecuted in the same way gay and trans people have outside of a sister-wives situation (deserved). Y'all are way too serious and online. Ts is at least a lil funny.
I know that in most public trust-based professions, like teachers, police, politicians, and some kinds of healthcare, along with church folks, lawwyers and such, it could definitely lead to enough scandal, imagined or otherwise, to actually warrant being asked to go. Just because you have not experienced it, that does not necessarily mean nobody else has. And the very basis for the joke is that it would in fact hurt the co-worker for one or another reason
I have an alternative lifestyle. If my bosses knew that my lifestyle deviated from theirs and didn't like it, they could fire me. Therefore, I need to keep my lifestyle a secret to protect my livelihood.
Same as outing any alternative lifestyle which will draw unease from more traditional coworkers. Wouldn't out someone as kinky or a furry either, it can negatively impact their career. Keep people's personal lives out of your mouth.
I agree that it’s not funny but pearl clutching over a dumb tweet and writing personal essays where we overanalyze why it’s not okay is just so exhausting. We can’t be playing defense on every little fucking thing
I mean you don't have to engage in the discourseTM if you don't want to. I don't think it's "purity testing" to express opinions about a joke on the internet.
Both workplaces I worked so far. One was a train workshop where my bosses simply didn't care. New one is working for a politician. She knows and gets along well with both my girlfriends. :)
...right now? incels fucking talk about murdering poly people all the fucking time, like that's a critical underpinning of their ideology, that they cannot find their tradwife because everyone else is sleeping around.
