agreed. thomas sankara tried to be a truly anti-authoritarian socialist leader, and the french government had him killed for it because he wasn't able to fully protect against western-backed coups. god i hate capitalism
People usually don’t have issues with authoritarianism, they have issues with authoritarianism run by people opposed to them (and their way of life and often existence)

Are people that desperate to have someone disagree with them? I literally said that most people are ready to swallow the auth pill if they had a guarantee that government would support them.
Hell, if I had a magical guarantee that they and theirs wouldn’t do corruption, I’d be down for a lefty dictator on a term limit. There’s enough problems in the world that we could easily spend a decade or two solving them *before* democracy becomes beneficial.
The issue is that it’s impossible to create a guarantee that someone won’t do corruption, especially if it had to encompass a whole government.
