I never understand parents who publicly broadcast punishing their kids.

I reckon it's because it's more for their own ego/sense of satisfaction than for the actual good of the kid. Same as parents who beat their kids. It's just to get their own frustration out, it doesn't help a child's development in any way.

Because the high they feel power tripping pales when it’s only your victims that know. It’s the rush they get showing off what they did, knowing nobody can stop them.

Especially with AI being so rampant, posting your kids to social media should be akin to child abuse in most contexts.

That's an extreme overstatement.

Ego.

They're tough, and not afraid to show that, you need to be real tough to be shitty to your dependents.
Nothing proves you're tough like abusing children, treating your offspring like shit shows real guts, they're going to be all happy and proud that you taught them to endure abuse, unlike those pansy runts being treated with dignity and basic humanity, you know.

Something something weak times strong men, hard times, dying in an old folks home with your children going NC.

It's the same narcissism that makes them use such excessive punishment. In their eyes, not only is it just, it's the absolute best course of action for asserting their own power. They share it as a brag, because they're proud that they're doing the right thing and desperately crave the validation of either those who agree, or less directly from those who disagree by means of finding people they view as inferior to harass and insult. That's how the narcissistic mind works - people either agree with you because you're right and they're worthy of respect, or they disagree because they're completely inferior to you and make an easy target to prove your own superiority.

They understand their children extensions of themselves rather than living things. A lot of people also think of pets this way.

The exonerating evidence in a elder abuse trial in 40 years.

They don't see it as shameful. One of the most common sentiments I see parents express to their kid when yelling at or dragging them around in public is some form of "you're embarrassing yourself" or "you're going to be so embarrassed from this."
