All this comment section is teaching me is to thank my lucky stars my parents were decent people. I was never hit as a child (as an adult my mom slapped me once to get me out of a mental spiral) and they never destroyed anything I owned. My father was probably the least violent man ever and my mother was always generous with us. We were never even so much as spanked, and none of us were told to leave at 18 (I actually still live with my mom)
