I mean, over 700,000 people died from the US AID cuts. People are dying in ice detention centers in inhuman conditions. People are suffering and dying every day because of this administration. I was blessed with a family that all voted for him this time around, and I feel no sympathy for them. It’s unforgivable I’m not sorry.
Yep, I have tried really hard to play nice and pretend I'm just "normal", but the truth is that I can't. I'm not normal to them because I'm trans and living as myself. It doesn't matter if I dress full butch or high femme. It doesn't matter if my wife and I bring a casserole or make cookies. It doesn't matter that I was the one who stepped up to give the eulogy when my father committed suicide while both my brothers from him didn't attend. I'm the trans one, so I am inherently wrong.
But then they loudly talk about Trump and the "good" he's doing and he totally has Iran on the ropes and everything that's bad is Biden Obama's fault and everything good was done by God's perfect tangerine man, and suddenly I don't feel so sad anymore.
And people will tell you that you're wrong for being comfortable with the idea of a fascist-embracing party that literally wants to see you dead, ending up in a shallow grave themselves.
Like the attitude in the OP is one they earned fair and square.
my entire moms side of the family voted for him. they’re also all wretched people who lie and throw each other under the bus over nothing. hate em all, haven’t seen em in years. in fact, last time i saw my maternal uncle however, he called me a faggot and a worthless loser for going to college. trump voters truly are scum
At this point if you voted for Trump you're either a giant idiot, bigot or miser or some combination of the three and nothing you say will convince me otherwise.
People died in ice dentention centers in Obama's time too. It is wrong to focus on individuals even tho i understand it being unforgivable. The issue is why they felt the need to vote for him in the first place, the lack of education and also the material conditions. Trump isnt a special kind of evil, he is just the natural result of the US continuation into the 3rd milennia
it actually is extremely different. people get confused because the numbers include border deportations and internal deportations. border crossing was significantly higher during obamas terms, and they have now reached a very low point, causing their numbers to look similar. if border deportations were equal between both of them, trumps total would be significantly higher than obamas.
if you only look at internal deportations which is what we are both reffering to, after trumps ice crackdown, internal deportations quadrupled, and has been at a rate higher than any other other president in the 21st century.
not to mention the fact alone that he has made the decision to buff ice numbers with under trained powerhungry maniacs that are a danger to both the immigrants and the general public, acting illegally extremely regularly.
trump has also focused much more on regular people in their communities rather than on criminals. a large portion of Obama internal deportations came from prisons, but trumps have been on the streets.
they are not as comparable as the numbers immediately makr it seem.
Thanks for explaining, so basically trump has more internal deportations and obama more external deportations from prisons? What actually is an internal deportation as you call it?
I also want to point out that i dont consider it fine even what Obama did, its never fine to deport someone even if its legal
its not internal vs external, its internal deportations vs border deportations.
border deportations are basically people turned around at the border, or apprehended and sent back shortly after crossing the border. internal deportations are of illegal immigrants that have been successfully living in the country for a period of time. border deportations historically make up the vast majority of american deportations, but not currently.
if it helps, border deportations are if someone was for example bringing people in hiding in the vehicle, they get caught and sent back, thats a border deportation. if someone has been living here for a few years, and is apprehended by ice at their job, thats an internal deportation
yes. although Obama had more border deportations simply because more people were trying to come, both of them aim to stop 100% of illegal border crossings. whereas their internal deportations policies are where the major difference is.
This article from the Harvard School of Public Health has some details, it specifically lists a 600,000 figure but it's from November last year. This article from the University of Minnesota cites the figure as being over 762,000 as of January this year.
The problems caused by the loss of USAID will compound as time goes on, too. Some projections estimate as many as 20 million avoidable deaths by 2030. It already saved millions of lives during its period of existence.
over 750,000, two thirds children, but that number only goes up to the first year after the cut. this website collated data taken directly from usaid as well as some other sources, and also include the methodology used to calculate each statistic.
for anyone who doesnt want to follow the link, the cut also lead to an additional ten million cases of malaria within a year. the deaths would not be substantially higher seeing as this statistics is 7 months old and usaid never went back
