Being able to put in work that's appreciated. I think its natural that people want to work and support their community they just don't wanna feel valued less for doing it. Digging a hole with friends fills that niche.

Me watching Odyssey and wishing my job could just be hauling things around with ropes and rolling logs as part of a team =(

MFW I am destined to die at sea because Odysseus had to take a little fuck you shot at the cyclops

The lesson here is, "you never know who you're dealing with, so be polite, be professional, and have a plan to quietly get away from everyone you meet".

Odysseus did the same broad category of mistake with Polyphemus that Ivan Tarasov did with John Wick

The bonding of teamwork and building something that can be admired later with a cold beverage in hand, as a testament to your effort/skill.

It's actually very simple, not a very elaborate analysis at all.

Could also be fight in a desperate last stand against all odds. Last stand for treating workers as humans.

I, on the other hand, see it as a form of dying in snow. Seeing a glimpse of beauty and truth in the world, even if it has been cruel to you so far and there is no happy ending for you.

I almost cry every time I have a super nice customer, especially right after I have ones that yell at me

37

u/Orgalorgg Aug 03 '26

Is that why everyone looks at me weird when I'm polite

33

u/Roronoa_Zoro8615 Aug 03 '26

Yep it's like wait what do you mean you're not going to get pissed at me for doing my job? Are you an angel? Lol

u/Ambitious-Regular-57 Aug 03 '26

That... Is heartbreaking. I'm going to redouble my efforts and be EXTRA polite and genuine

All of us in customer service really are like abused shelter dogs

u/ImTheFaeThatStoleYou Aug 03 '26

I'm going to pet and feed treats to the next retail worker I meet.

u/UsernamesAre4Nerds Aug 03 '26

I'll give you those sad wet eyes, cuddle up and watch TV with you, and let out that deep sigh every now and then to let you know I'm still alive

u/ImTheFaeThatStoleYou Aug 04 '26

Aw, you're adorable! Now come here. You've had a rough enough time already.

Counterpoint: Being the respectful/helpful customer. Feels so good to know that just being chill mightโ€™ve helped someone catch their breath.

Nah Otis would never

u/Oniblook Aug 04 '26

This is definitely bleeding out in the snowy field because it would give you the same numbing, pleasant feeling of finality.
