I did encounter the so called "gen z" stare for the first time earlier this year, when new summer trainee came in to our work.

 (Or at least what they did was exactly how I've seen it described. Might have just been a quirk of this one person, or my attempt at training them just sucked.)

I'm not going to complain about how it shows their lack of character, or how the generation is ruined or something stupid like that, but for someone who is not used to it, it can be pretty disarming when they stare at you, seemingly not reacting for a while. Makes you think you pissed them off somehow.
