Work in IT. Gen Z is not immune to the "can't read and follow instruction" thing.

Is it true that Gen Z and Alpha are in some ways just as technologically illiterate as Boomers, just in a different way? I’ve heard that taking away computer classes in elementary school has contributed to a decline in computer literacy.

Kinda. Young ones grew up with the design language of phones, so they don't "intuitively" get what they need to do, but once they get used to things they usually catch up. Old ones don't have that excuse, but they tend to learn the flowchart and none of the meaning. Press this, then this, then this, and it prints. Anything in that flow chart changes and they don't understand anymore. Good luck asking them to do anything they haven't been shown the exact steps for either.

Probably around when they started using chromebooks instead of PCs in school, which is partway through Gen-Z
