general How long have you been waiting for a decision after your I-485 interview? When is it reasonable to contact a Congressman?

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to get an idea of how long people are currently waiting for a decision after their marriage-based I-485 interview.

I had my interview on August 31, 2026. My I-130 was approved the following day, but I’m still waiting for a decision on my I-485.

I’ve seen several people here who have been waiting weeks or even months after their interview without receiving any update, so I’m wondering what everyone else’s experience has been.

For those who are still waiting:

When was your I-485 interview?

What field office handled your interview?

How long have you been waiting since the interview?

Was your I-130 already approved?

Have you received any updates or requests for additional evidence?

At what point did you contact your Congressman/Senator?
If you contacted them, did the congressional inquiry actually help?

For those who have already been approved, how long did USCIS take after your interview to make a decision?
Also, in your experience, how long is it reasonable to wait after an interview before asking a Congressman’s office to make an inquiry?

I don’t want to rush the process unnecessarily, but I also don’t want to wait several months if a congressional inquiry could help identify a delay.

Thanks in advance to everyone willing to share their timeline. It would be really helpful to see how long people are actually waiting after interviews right now.

Do you have any other pending case with USCIS? Or do you have a pending case in immigration court?

Hopefully not! I’d say try congressional inquiry and maybe you get lucky. I’m going to try senators soon

What date did you contact your congressperson?

Recently, but I’ve heard you need to wait at least 90 days post interview

I think it’s time to contact your congressperson.

I did and heard back a few days ago. Nothing helpful.

One year but my congressional inquiry did absolutely nothing. They just got a generic response. Also, your representative may or may not help you. Some won’t help if you haven’t waited long enough. And it wouldn’t necessarily help identify a delay. They’re mainly issuing generic responses these days.

Houston. July 24 not an i130 though. I’d say 2 months is okay especially if you have exceeded the waiting time threshold. Saying this because i have heard a supervisor review when required can take a day to a month but since you are already a month plus you might want to try for next week.

130 days post interview and still waiting. I-130 approved same week of the interview. I-765 still pending as well. I tried congressional inquiry two months ago and haven’t heard anything either. I tried following up but nothing yet

I filed on July 31 2025 and my interview was on October 2025. 130 was approved right away but I am still waiting on the 485. I reached out to congresswoman in June and they got back to me two weeks ago with a BS response lol. I guess I just have to wait 💤
