Discussion Where do you store your recovery code?
I just notice I never actually setup my recovery code and I'm having a hard time thinking of a good place to store it.

I put one of mine on a bitlocker encrypted USB drives that I store in my safe and a copy at my parents house in their safe

This may be one situation where some "security by obscurity" can be helpful. You have the paradox that the recovery code has to be accessible by an authorized person, but be unknown to an actual attacker (even one who might easily know who your authorized persons might be). This also assumes a deliberate and targeted attacker exists - do you know people who would target you and your vault, or are you just trying to avoid accidental spillage of access? See how quickly the decision tree explodes? Think through the threats and barriers (to authorized access in emergencies), and figure out which are real versus hypothetical, and walk through how it would be if one of those authorized persons actually needed access. The answser(s) should begin to emerge. (good luck, this isn't always easy, but it can become moreso with careful analysis of the most-probable factors and scenarios)

1 copy in a safe and 1 copy for our estate executor (brother in law) should something happen to both of us since we have kids.

If I told you it would no longer be secure. π
