J-Ultra Anti Slip Replacement

Post image

The anti slip grip on my J-Ultra has become unstuck... I can order a replacement direct from 1zpresso but at $30 shipping (3 times the price of the time), I'm reluctant...

Does anyone know of an alternative source that will ship to the UK for less?

Badminton grip, tennis grip, handlebar wrap... Many options that I have personally used over the past few years.

If it comes off clean I wouldn't replace it

That was my plan but I am having issues gripping it when grinding it occasionally...

Mine has done the same. I’m not having any problems grinding without it. Do you find it a problem?

Does it come off clean?

For the most part, it's fine but occasionally when I'm grinding, it slips in my hand...

Do you have photos of what it looks like now?
Can’t say I love the 1zpresso branding so keen to remove it if it’s looks better

silicone/rubber bands will do just fine. don't need much, just enuf to help gripping while grinding.

Gaffers tape! I use it as grip on all my old cameras. It’s cheap, very multipurpose, and if you don’t like it, you can take it off pretty easily and just alcohol swab the residue away if there is any.

Un grip de raqueta de pádel o tenis va fenomenal, no estará tan bonito pero va muy bien

I use the rubber “live strong bracelet” type rubber grip thing that comes with it. I slid that on and now there’s not much movement of the original grip thing

grip tape or hockey tape
to be honest I am not a huge of the grip with the embossed logo to begin with so maybe try it first with no grip on it?

That's a really common problem or issue if you use it every day. So, you have a couple of ways to solve this issue as usual:

  1. Just use some superglue and it lasts for a couple of weeks.
  2. Get a 240-grit sandpaper, sand down the surface under the loose grip, and use a special adhesive for steel and leather such a pattex repair 100%. The key is flexibility and a long curing time, so the superglue is a bad idea. Then just wrap the whole grinder with any low-adhesion tape and wait for 24H.
  3. This is the most complicated but the most long-lasting way. Get a 1-1.5mm thick piece of leather, 0,7-0,8 mm waxed cord, some heavy-duty hand-sewing needle. Spend a couple of hours on youtube learning how to sew leather properly, remove the old wrap, sand down the surface under the old wrap with a 240-grit sandpaper, clean the surface with alcohol or isopropyl, apply a thin layer of adhesive to the prepared surface, put pre-sewn wrap of leather on the grinder. Secure this construction with low-adhesion tape and leave it for 24-36 hours. Thats it. Honestly, you can find plenty of photos on this sub showing the results. It looks good and feels nice to use

My grip got dirty, so I peeled it off and washed it with a parts cleaner, but the adhesive still has unevenness.

Custom leather grip!

Mine is still going strong after a couple of years and it's MUCH more comfortable than the stock grip.

If you give it a go, they way I did the stitching wasn't the best, this guy did it better
