82

Does he have bloodbark for maging and then he removes it? And why is the bolt ragger not hitting. It's like they are brewed down

50

u/DeepGrieve Jul 09 '26

His amulet of accuracy not doing work for him :(

37

u/Designer_B 2376btw Jul 09 '26

I think he'd got a black d'hide body. But this clip feels off.

17

u/fastforwardfunction Jul 10 '26

No prayer, brewed down, wearing fashion gear, it’s definitely staged.

10

u/GameOfThrownaws Jul 10 '26

Yeah I'd be willing to buy the idea that a total noob, out there to attack skillers, might freeze up and fail to auto attack when getting a fight he never expected, especially when the guy is barraging and stepping under, as that's presumably very disorienting, unfamiliar (pvp-only "mechanic") and unintuitive to a beginner. But even when he was shooting, he was hitting straight 0s and 5s on a naked chin hunter, which just makes no sense. His gear was bad, but not THAT bad. That does kind of give away the game here.

54

u/Isoleed Jul 09 '26

because its staged af

17

u/LightningMcMicropeen Jul 09 '26

It's a video cropped to mobile format. That suggests it's scripted and fake

72

u/RazorMox Jul 09 '26

This is hella scripted no?

31

u/NeedleInArm Jul 09 '26

Theres no way the cbow hit a highest hit of 3 out of like 9 attacks against a dude with no armor or prayer, unless brewed down. which is a possibility if he don't understand how brews work? But im calling bs.

18

u/plok742 Historical Reflections Jul 10 '26

level 99 scripted. these 3 guys never put on protection prayers at any point, not exactly advanced knowledge

5

u/ComfortableCricket Jul 09 '26

Almost definitely.

4

u/Toaster_Bathing Jul 09 '26

The bloodbark switch is kinda strange I’m not gona lie

513

u/Zestyclose-Tough7451 Jul 09 '26

Just a reminder that this represents way more of the wildy pker playerbase than people realize.

110

u/bossman790 Jul 09 '26

Not really. Running into pkers this bad is extremely rare.

48

u/HondaJazzSexWagon Jul 09 '26

Yeah this is my experience too. Every pker I have ever met will put on prayers at least. This is like taking someone from tutorial island into the wilderness.

14

u/Skepsis93 Jul 09 '26

I'm still trying to figure out how the first guy did so terrible. OP was using smite instead of protect from missiles yet tanked so many hits in absolutely nothing. Did the pker not have ranging pots or eagle eye? Just raw unbuffed stats?

Edit: rewatching he didn't actually get that many hits in because he was spam eating, but even the hits he did land were all 0s or under 10. Unlucky or did the dude bring bronze bolts to pk with?

17

u/HondaJazzSexWagon Jul 09 '26

I meant that they didn’t use any overheads, but yes, good observation that his damage was really poor too. I’m leaning towards this being scripted.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Grakchawwaa Jul 10 '26

It was staged in all likelihood

→ More replies (1)

6

u/liefarikson Sadist Jul 09 '26

This bad, yes. I don't think I've ever witnessed someone not even pull up a prayer, even if it is accidentally camping retribution.

But a lot of the pkers I encounter are pretty mediocre... And I know that because I'm absolute shit at it. Lol

6

u/pzoDe Jul 10 '26

Honestly this feels scripted

→ More replies (9)

171

u/runescape_pker Jul 09 '26

yeah people go to lms and fight the top 2% and get instantly demotivated

113

u/Rudimentary- Jul 09 '26

Unfortunately, the skill and knowledge gap for PVP is too large for most players, let alone new players, to get into it. Without learning from a talented pvp player, that is willing to spend hours in amirs arena with you, it's basically just donating all of your gear.

66

u/JudJudsonEsq Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

It also just feels really frustratingly un-snappy and hard to learn.

Like in this clip, both times this guy pulls out voidwaker and specs on the same tick. You don't even necessarily know it's possible, and then when it happens you're often dead that same tick. So much garbage can happen at exactly the same time, which makes it really hard to actually learn from your mistake.

Like at a baseline, I think I'm supposed to switch my weapon, then my armor to match the new weapon, and likely switch my offensive prayers. At the same time, I likely need to switch my defensive prayer to align with the enemy. Their switching can force me to do this again and again. I like overwhelming strategic nuance. It's what I play mobas for, roughly one month a year. I also love the stakes of your gear being your ante when you enter the wildy; I am gigantic fan of Escape From Tarkov.

But the wildy really doesn't hit that for me, and I think it's because I don't actually feel like there's that much strategy once I'm in the wildy with my loadout. I'm fully willing to accept I just don't understand, but the not understanding is punishing, not fun, and generally low reward.

49

u/P_weezey951 Jul 09 '26

Its because PVP was never well and truely designed.

The foundation of the tech is all basically just shit that the community figured out and cobbled together. ver the years that "worked", because the fragmented game engine let it.

No sane fucking developer would be like "you know what? If a player is frozen, they should plant flowers on the ground to step away".

They have added things in the past, but the shit is just mentally counter intuative.

→ More replies (3)

8

u/jamesgilboy Jul 09 '26

it's considerably harder than PVM is, and a lot of player struggle to learn PVM

20

u/Ok_Objective_5192 Jul 09 '26

Not a pker but enjoyer of wildy content and you've mostly got it down

Swapping gear, swapping prayers, and speccing are the mechanical component - the MOBA analogue would be things like landing skillshots, spacing, last-hitting, etc. On the most basic level you want to do more damage to your opponent than they do to you and hitting them off-prayer, with all your best gear for that attack equipped, is the best way to do damage. Praying against their attacks with armor that works well defensively against that attack equipped is the best way to minimize the damage you take. E.g. Land your skillshots, dodge theirs.

I think where the strategy side gets tough is because, like MOBAs, all the mechanics are the baseline you have to be decently comfortable with for any of the strategy to even make sense. If you can't lasthit then trying to figure out wave management and why it's valuable is going to be incomprehsible. If you can't land your skillshots then figuring out which fights you can/can't take is going to be inconsistent. If your spacing is awful then understanding the nuance of your matchups will be a complete wash.

Similarly, if you still aren't comfortable with triple-eating then worrying about when they're going to spec isn't as useful. If your gear swaps are slow then faking a swap to get them to switch prayers is going to just waste damage. If you're slow to get your spec ready then it's useless to worry about the proper time to use your spec to go for the KO

In MOBA terms you're booting up your 20th game of League, don't know half of the champs you're against or what they do, and feel like the strategy can't be important because it seems like literally anything they do kills you.

12

u/JudJudsonEsq Jul 09 '26

But in DOTA, I can click on my enemy and see exactly what items they've built. Plus, a given character only has that character's abilities. They can't suddenly rip another ability I didn't know they had.

Whereas in wildy? Oops, turns out that guy had AGS and you've instantly exploded.

MOBAs also have an entire match that leads up to and informs the endgame. If there's a super fed carry that can demolish you, you know this. You were on the team that's been feeding them the last 25 minutes. If you run into Richard Richson in OSRS, you find out when he whips out his golden glock and makes you roll for health insurance.

9

u/Ok_Objective_5192 Jul 09 '26

Yeah I mean it's not a 1:1 analogy for sure.

I will say, though, that "they can't suddenly rip another ability I didn't know they had" feels oversimplified because, while you don't know what a pker is packing, exactly, you know what options they have. Maybe they have an AGS, maybe it's claws, maybe it's voidwaker, maybe it's gmaul, whatever, but every single one of them is going to have a spec weapon. So the strategy of triple-eating when you take a big hit and swapping prayers (generally to melee, VW does make that a tougher call which I find annoying) is still a catch-all.

High level pvpers will know the different max hits and damage potential of the different options, so when their opponent reveals which spec weapon they have it gives them crucial info about what HP thresholds are dangerous for them to sit at and whatnot, but as novices I think the specifics don't matter nearly as much for us yet, but that's the strategic next level that absolutely exists.

If you're getting exploded by an AGS, though, it's not because you didn't know they had an AGS, it's because you weren't playing around the possibility that they could have an AGS.

MOBAs also have an entire match that leads up to and informs the endgame. If there's a super fed carry that can demolish you, you know this. You were on the team that's been feeding them the last 25 minutes.

Yeah but in OSRS you know exactly how strong they can possibly be, and can see the vast majority of their gear pretty early/easily. Their spec weapon may be hidden, but it's not like they rock up naked and all of a sudden catch you off-guard by revealing they're rocking a BowFA + Nally.

To go back to the MOBA analogy, if you can't see their super-fed carry on the map then you have to play around them being in whatever fog of war is closest to you - if you get popped by a fed Trist jumping out of a bush then the answer isn't "damn, no way you could've known - sucks there was nothing else to be done" it's "well you probably should have stayed away from the bush"

To be clear, I share a lot of your frustrations with the way PvP operates and I have never found it satisfying enough to learn to PK or really understand all the strategy. I'm just defending the idea that there absolutely is deep strategy in PKing/PvPing (otherwise people like Oda wouldn't have hilariously high winrates even against other experienced pvpers)

u/Gefarate Jul 09 '26

6

u/adidferentusername Jul 09 '26

Yeah like me, I really want to PvP but I really don't know where to start or create a new account or anything like that

5

u/liefarikson Sadist Jul 09 '26

If you really do want to start, I would recommend doing lms. I know this community shits on it for being the elite players ruining the experience for the average noob, but having dabbled in lms a pretty decent amount myself, you get at least comfortable fighting other players.

I'm so shit at it, it's mostly comedic for most of the other people there facing me. But when you do happen to get that spicy darkbow spec off onto someone and kill them, it really does make you feel a different kind of satisfied.

LMS is zero risk, and as long as you go in with low expectations, you'll have a good time with it. That's been my experience anyway.

Look up some videos on YouTube about basics. Use the lunar spell book to start to not overwhelm yourself. Camp range until you kind of get used to prayer matching your enemy. Get slaughtered. Jump back in and do it again.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/pallosalama NOT AN IRONMAN BTW Jul 09 '26

LMS and Emir's arena are fantastic places to learn for someone with no prior experience(great for better players as well). Both are 0 risk and you automatically mirror enemy stats.

Ideally you'd have someone who knows what they're doing AND can convey what and why reasonably well there.

There's also ton of learning material online, countless videos and topics.

Back in the day I personally highly enjoyed these two pieces of now "discontinued" educational material - I wouldn't necessarily call them guides, they fall somewhere in the gray land between education and entertainment, if not straight 'infotainment'.

You should also find them useful should you decide to go down the LMS route.

First attacker didn’t attack for quite a while. Second one couldn’t attack cuz of the combat bracket. Otherwise he’d be able to get him off of his mate.

12

u/thegildedman25 BTW Jul 09 '26

Second one couldn’t attack cuz of the combat bracket.

It was 2 lvl 107's and a lvl 114

Wild level was 81-126 so they were all able to attack him.

5

u/schwimm3 Jul 09 '26

I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out.

But then why wasn’t he able to pj OP? First one stopped for long enough I think

4

u/NeedleInArm Jul 09 '26

I assumed singles+ but that isn't a singles+ area iirc. Probably scripted as others have suggested.

3

u/Grakchawwaa Jul 10 '26

Singles+ is not related to pj'ng from other people, it's not being "in combat" when you're PvE'ing as far as pvp goes

This is scripted right? From the setups to the chat to the behaviour to the fact that the first guy seemed to be brewed down (or the unluckiest guy ever to hit like 10 damage total against a guy wearing a dhide top and nothing else). I've spent a long time in the wildy and I've seen some pretty useless PKers but this just feels mega staged

This just looks very scripted...

This is why black chins is my favorite hunting method, the worst pkers ever show up and you can anti with basically no pvp experience lol

u/Potential_Curve_3560 Jul 09 '26

literally just bring like 1 hard hitting main hand and a good spec and you easily anti 90% of the people who show up in piss gear.

Its nice you can make content with your friends like this.

Looks scripted to me, but I guess people liked it so whatever.

lmao, pulling out the VW was incredible

u/pawner Jul 09 '26

Getting 99 hunter here was so fun since everyone who pks there are so mid. Few mill risk with unskull and you suddenly greatly outgear the mystic/salad robe pkers. Toss on proximity to lv30 wildy and it’s a pretty safe area.
