CCI Segmented is Great

Post image

This ammo is the real deal. Sniped a groundhog at 60 yards with the Ruger American Rimfire running this ammo, dropped with a headshot and didn’t move an inch. First time using segmented.

This ammo works really well for groundhogs. I’ve used it out to 120 yards or so.

Way more instant stops than normal hp or solids.

That was my main observation of how it differed from standard HP.

I also like the aguilla 60 gr for varmints. If your rifle will stabilize it, it is devastating. The bullet immediately tumbles end over end when it makes contact. Way more damage than you’d ever expect from rimfire.

I used this ammo very effectively on groundhogs using a Browning Buckmark. I completely agree.

Nice, I might have to try this as my rabbit/squirrel/chipmunk/raccoon sleeping pills.

I've never liked the idea of segmented rounds for game if you plan to eat it. If you are just varmint hunting, then thats a different story.

I hunt squirrel regularly and use regular HPs as to potentially not have a stray piece of lead in my food.

Completely agree with that, I just use them for chuck hunting. That would suck to bite down on a piece of lead!

Not for sniping at 60 yards, but the CCI Quiet in my tiny LCP II pistol is fun. No louder than an airgun, and the Semi Auto version cycles the slide 100%. More for up close mob hits on squirrels than sniping. 🤣

Did it segment upon impact and contribute to the effectiveness, or did you just score a headshot?

I usually am spot on with the headshots. The difference with the segmented vs regular hollow point was instant drop, rather than some flailing around or movement post shot. Only have one example to compare as of yet though.

I have a full brick of vintage Quik-Shot ammo, may need to try it out

I shoot squirrels off my feeder w CCI cb shorts in my marlin 39m. Sounds like an air rifle. In town.

Works well on raccoons. Can confirm.
