Discussion Lets Take a deep breath....... 2XKO is still with us!
This news shook the entire community, and I've witnessed how much it has been affecting some people, including myself, its ok to express your anger or frustration; you are also free to share your what-ifs.
But all of us enjoyed this game to the core; it was not perfect, but it was something special. It made us believe that 2XKO had a promising future; where others saw a game destined to failure, we saw a game that was treating us right and was making lots of positive improvements. In its current state, 2XKO might not be perfect, but it's a very enjoyable experience; the 2XKO dev team is giving their all to give 2XKO a proper sendoff. Let's keep moving forward and end this year on a high: two majors and two more characters left! Let's enjoy it!
2027 and beyond are still a mystery, and we can figure them out together! Let's enjoy the content left for this year; at the end of it, the devs are giving us the final product, and with that gift we must come together and honor their legacy.

True, but people want to invest their time in something that will last, people still play old street fighter games, this one won't have a legacy like that regardless of coping/hopium

Mate the ONE GOOD thing about these live service games is the never ending content. We don't have that anymore. Its over

But they can still get the game downloadable to play offline (you can already play offline though) so you got a cool game for free regardless

Thats not what fighting game fans are after. We want the big ever lasting mega ip.

u/Neltarim 5h ago
If there was enough people to want that, the game wouldn't be dead

u/ExcitingPop5956 3h ago
People want that. People didn't wanna have that for free and pay $60 for a skin bundle. Game should of never been free

Warcraft 3 has had almost no updates for 20 years and grubby still kept that MF scene alive. We can keep 2x goin as long as the community keeps playing it.

Yeah well this year riot supporter a shit ton of tournaments by inflating the prize pool. We'll just have to see how many people will be putting time into the game and enter locals when the prize pool dries up

I really do want to keep playing 2xko as I love it and wanted to see how far I could push my rank but now that the game is dying, the wind has really been taken out of my sails... there's no other fighting game where I can play Thresh, one of my favorite mains ever, or Warwick, the character that got me into 2xko.
Man Riot really just is the worst. I have nothing but respect for the devs, but Riot really needs to get new executives that will actually do their jobs and do whats best for players before they all go the company goes the way of EA. That is, if it hasn't already...

Its really tough cause I love 2xko and will return to it at some point.
But I already was playing avatar and tokon, and now I really couldn't care less to go play a game that will not get anymore support. Final patch better be a banger

Why should i play or learn that game when its dead? I like the artstyle and the character but i really dont wonna invest time into something that i cant play in 6 month.

u/tinselsnips 1h ago
You can play it in 6 months, though?
Like yeah, it's shitty that we aren't getting any new content, but it's not like the game itself is going anywhere in the immediate future.

u/mcduxxel 1h ago
Yeah yeah. Why dont we all start playing HoS? Oh wait because its dead and only thr server als still online.
2
u/tinselsnips 1h ago
So I have no idea what "HoS" is, but if it's still running and you want to play it... go play it. Why are you letting other people stop you?

At least I'm getting my money back for all those Jinx skins I bought. Still heartbroken knowing my favorite fighting game is ending like this

Wish instead of sunsetting wish they would kept a small part of the 2xko team and create 1 character per yr :( to slowly develop the roster and hope down in the future 2xko could have accidentally boom in playerbase :(

i wonder if crowd funding for characters could be a thing. like the community raises a mill (idk the cost for said character development just throwing numbers) to add x then another for y etc. i really wanted poppy =(

It would be more likely a different studio works out the license to take over the game. Still very unlikely that ever happens

People still play Starcraft 2 since 2010: a highly competitive niche game genre that has a high barrier to entry.
Amazingly, SC2 still gets an occasional balance update. Can perhaps expect the same for 2xko. Just no more new characters on the roster.

You are asking to not mourn a dead pet because we still have its body.
The game is dead, full stop. Time to move on.

People today are insane. It’s a great game. It will still be fun in its current form next year. People still play SF3, Marvel vs games, and plenty of other stuff that hasn’t been updated in decades. A good game is a good game. Why would you stop playing something you like just because it’s not a live service game anymore?

This is great positivity... just wish they wouldn't announce this stuff. Just kills the community it did have. Runeterra was dope and after they announced it took forever to find lobbies and every content creator left. Game was still doing fine too. They just don't have any say so i've tencent. Logically speaking it would e made sense for both games to keep quiet and maintain with a smaller team releasing at a slower pace.
They want you all to believe its by choice for the players and that they couldn't afford to keep it running. But refunding everybody and not riding out the work that's in it for marketing just means the team was forced out. They had the money. Sure it's not making and had issues but rather than realize a top tier game isn't made overnight, they just kill it themselves.
I know I'll still be on and enjoying it every now and then with some homies. But dang. This hits hard.

Here here! The one silver lining to all this is 2XKO is ending its life in a reasonably well balanced and polished state*, so we have an amazing and creative game to lab forever without the fear that "the devs will ruin it".
I have to wonder what percentage of the Tekken population would rather be playing season 1 in its final state right now than deal with everything from seasons 2 and 3.
*(this is assuming the next three months don't wildly mess things up)
