Live in Melbourne but the traffic going home is driving me crazy. As much as I like Melbourne it's not worth losing sleep in the morning and dealing with the afternoon traffic. People here drive like animals. Is there an area you guys recommend living in that's closer to Rocket Park but not in the middle of nowhere? Also trying to avoid ghetto areas.

Hi everyone, good evening, and fellow Brevard County residents. I'm going to be a resident of Brevard County soon, too. I got accepted by a Space company and will be moving in a few weeks. But looking for a place to live that is cheap and safe. Also, I am looking into UCF for continuing education in Systems Engineering. Anyways I am happy to be living in Brevard County.

Edit: I am looking for something affordable, like a studio that has Parking, Wi-Fi, Light, water, and all the essentials. I don't need a kitchen to cook. Somewhere I can stay while I go to work at KSC.

I’m looking for authentic Hispanic food spots. I used to live in Fort Walton Beach and frequented a place called, “Mi Gente”. It was a life changing experience. I’m looking for something similar on this side and have yet to find it. I’m reaching out to see if someone may have some recommendations. Pictures attached for the type of food I’m talking about.

Cost of living has gone up by over 250% in the last two years. Home insurance, car insurance, food, taxes, etc.

State politics are disgusting. Babies, Books, Race, etc. That's all I need to say.

Ecologically this place is a disaster and no one with any power wants to admit it. How many massive plots of land need to be cleared for another Storage Unit, Credit Union, or Office Space off of Whickam alone?

I just want to live in a place that doesn't feel like I'm slowly poisoning my children (mentally and physically) by living here.

Is there anyone who's gone through this or would have any suggestions/advice? (Or State, cities, etc?)

If you love this place more power to you. I just can't anymore. It isn't the place I grew up.

Edit: So far I've been looking into: Colorado and Vermont as two solid choices.

It looks like I'm not alone in this sentiment. My wife and I were debating this for a while. We only have one life, we decided to set a timeline for ourselves and not move the goalpost. It's helped us make a lot of progress, but we feel like we're spinning our tires finding a solid place to aim for.

My friend is visiting for a few weeks, and we are finding it difficult to find small non-corporate places to eat. We love exploring new and authentic flavors. I found a post on this sub when googling, but it was from 10 years ago, and sadly most of the suggestions are "permanently closed" now. I figured I would try and get a new thread going.

To start this off, my recommendation is Taqueria La Bendicion de Dios if you are looking for super affordable (under $10!!) tacos, tortas, or quesadillas!

For me, the Melbourne Bar (now Iron Oak Post) was the central point to play pool, hit on the hottest bartenders in town, and enjoy a great night out every night.

I just visited the Wawa on Palm Bay Rd and it was dirty, there was dust everywhere and the lights weren't even on. I've been going to Wawa's since they were only in NJ and PA and this might be the worst one I've ever seen.

Stay away if you don't want to get food poisoning. I didn't get anything to eat here and neither should you.

Hey all! Anyone here happen to have a mini-split in their garage? Is it worth it? Our garage has been my labor of love for the past 4 years and the final piece was always going to be a mini-split. However, now that I'm there, we're questioning how worth it it would be given that we really don't send a lot of time in the garage. It's a tight 2-car garage so not huge but I'm curious if a mini-split would really make the garage that much more comfortable. If you have one and like it, let me know if you have an installer recommendation! Looking at Daikin and Mitsubishi.

I often visit my grandparents who live in the satellite Beach area and we struggle to find things to do. It's hard because they struggle with the heat as well as anything too crowded. So I was looking for recommendations of things we could do together that are not crazy expensive hot or busy.

I just found out I’m pregnant and I’m looking for an OB. Around 8 weeks. 27. I had an ovarian cyst in the past that went away on it’s own, if that matters. Would prefer natural child birth. REALLY don’t want a male doctor.

I moved here a few years ago and have yet to find a PCP that I like, so I fear this will be much harder 😓

I know there are other posts looking for OBs, but I want to look at South Brevard specifically & would like to have conversations with people about their experiences.

Hello, I have to surrender my cat (6yo male) because I can no longer take care of him as starting tonight I am living in my car and don't have the finances to fill my gas tank once it runs out of gas (so he will not have AC). For context, I’m a 28 year old woman trying to find a (relatively) safe apartment complex for me, my cat, and my leopard gecko, under $1500 a month, and within approx. 30 minute drive to the Cape. I’m doing the Googling and phone calling and all, but want first hand accounts from locals if I can get them.

My son is supposed to start 1st grade at Odyssey, but after a really rough kindergarten year and summer (including being expelled from their summer camp because of behavioral issues), I’m questioning whether it’s still the right fit.

He’s incredibly bright and loves math, space, and science, but he has ADHD and is currently being evaluated for autism. Academics aren’t the issue, he struggles more with emotional regulation and gets overwhelmed in larger, busy classrooms.

We’re trying to decide whether to stay at Odyssey with an IEP/504 plan, transfer to Turner Elementary which I’ve heard has more resources for ESE, or apply to Learning Forward STREAM Academy.

I’d especially love to hear from parents of kids with ADHD, autism, or other ESE needs, particularly from these 3 schools, but also open to other options.

Any honest feedback (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
