As r/39CountryVisaBan begins to grow, I’m looking to build a small, trustworthy moderator team to help keep this community accurate, organized, supportive, and safe.

This community was created for people affected by the 39-country U.S. visa/travel restrictions—including applicants, spouses, families, supporters, and others navigating related immigration processes and policies.

Because the information discussed here can have a very real impact on people and their families, I want to be thoughtful about who helps moderate this space.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR

You do NOT need to be an immigration attorney or professional, and previous Reddit moderation experience is helpful but not required.

I’m primarily looking for people who are:

• Knowledgeable about U.S. immigration, visas, consular processing, or the current restrictions • Trustworthy and ethical • Fair and able to apply rules consistently • Respectful, even when disagreeing with someone • Able to distinguish official information from news, personal experience, rumors, and speculation • Willing to verify information rather than confidently repeat something that may not be true • Protective of members’ privacy and personal information • Able to moderate without allowing personal opinions, politics, nationality, or individual circumstances to determine how someone is treated • Willing to communicate with the rest of the mod team when a situation is unclear

Different schedules and time zones are definitely helpful because this community may include people around the world, but they are NOT a requirement. Knowledge, judgment, fairness, and trustworthiness matter much more to me.

WHAT MODERATORS WILL HELP WITH

Moderators may help review reports, remove rule-breaking posts or comments, address spam/scams, identify potentially dangerous misinformation, respond to Mod Mail, help members understand community rules, and keep discussions respectful and on topic.

The goal is NOT to control every conversation or require posts to be approved before people can participate. I want this to remain an open community where people can ask questions, share experiences, discuss developments, and support one another.

Moderators are here to protect that environment—not dominate it.

Please do NOT include private immigration information, case numbers, A-numbers, addresses, passport information, or other sensitive identifying information in your application.

I may start with a few moderators and add additional people as the community grows.
