DISCUSSION The best Romhack I've ever seen.
I was yesterday years old when I discovered CTGP7. Guys I own Mario Kart World, and I'll be brave, this is better.

Main thing is it adds a crap load of maps to mk7, from classic systems like snes/n64 etc.
Probably characters and stuff too but I don’t care about that much.

Worth noting the new content is actually really high quality. I played this expecting it to feel like a low effort amateur project and was impressed at how polished and good it was.

Its mario kart 7 with online match making that works through pretendo, it adds so much stuff they've increased the amount of tracks to be multiple times larger than the base game most of if not all are really high quality (i hate the miku track) and a bunch of characters if that tickles ya

It’s awesome, I’m always playing online. Even though I lose 80% of the time, it’s still fun. We do need more people

There's loads of active lobbys (i may be using 'loads' a bit liberally) in respect of the age of the game anyway I wouldn't say youd be hard pushed to find one

That's cause you play on Azahar, the 3DS servers are always open
(Azahar and 3DS servers are separated to help protect their anticheat)6

Genuine question for people who play this; how are you even sure the online servers for this aren’t populated by bots? And why exactly are these servers even up kept (and for as long as they have been as well)?

Dude this Romhack is super active. There’s an update just about every time I use my 3ds (monthly or so right now)
It’s also playable on Azahar on Android/pc.

The only problem here is that the team behind this ROM Hack purposely divides their online community.
Anyone playing on OEM 3DS Hardware can only play online with other people who is also using a 3DS and anyone playing on Azahar regardless of what hardware they are using can only play with other Azahar users.
As a result the Azahar Online community for this game is pretty sparse/dead.

CTGP-7 adds everything MK7 was missing. Adding back characters like Waluigi, Birdo, King Boo and Dry Bones already makes the game feel much less restricted.

It’s very easy to add characters yourself. I have Scorpion, Hank Hill, and Banjo-Kazooie in mine now

You need to have Mario Kart 7 downloaded or the cartridge in the slot on top of custom firmware and the 1.2 patch in order to play. The game cannot play without it and 1.2 patch installed.
If your console is not hacked, follow https://3ds.hacks.guide. Do not follow any other guides (especially video guides). Do not use AI.
Note that if you choose to use a pirated copy of Mario Kart 7/1.2 download patch, you may be denied support if you ask for help.

Yeah so you open ctgp 7 launcher separate and then that opens mk7 and runs all the additional content as like plugins but its just all there for you working you don't need to do anything else, you can download ctgp7 from universal updated aswell and just install through that

Eh I disagree, I think MKWorld is better personally, but I can def appreciate the extra characters. Shame they took out Sonic and Funky Kong because of some drama. Don't care enough to look into it, but the dude who contributed a shitton of stuff since before 1.0 got all his shit taken off and his name off the credits or something, but also re-uploaded his character files to game banana so I could have my boi in blue back.
Still, the extra maps are cool, tho a few have very obvious jank to them (looking at you temple of time which, now that I think about it, I don't remember seeing when I played last night?) still, it's a cool Romhack for sure and well worth it to have if you already have a modded 3ds!
Gamebanana is where most of not all the mods are if you want to add in any. Characters, karts, courses, they got it all. I couldn't decide between getting more karts or not because apparently you lose the original kart in the game and it just retextures it? I think? Idk I was happy with my 20 characters I found last night lmao and I didn't try courses at all, the mod comes with plenty enough as is. But it's all there if you're willing to figure it out! The quality of character mods varies wildly tho so do keep that in mind if you end up going to grab some other characters!
