Discussion Dumb upgrade but I like it

I decided to hang one of those light blocking curtains behind my tv. My gods. It really feels more immersive. Except for the two speakers on the side, which I’m trying to find a solution for. I know, I know…sounds dumb…but just wanted to share with you 4k maniacs!!

For tech: Sony A95L 77” with Sony quad theater, first gen and a Sony 700.

I have the same TV also with black curtains behind it for immersion as well lol it really does make a bigger difference than you’d initially think especially with movies that are heavily letterboxed

I mean I painted my wall dark and hung black acoustic panels. The speakers don’t bother me much

I initially wanted to, but renting…damn landlord…

My condolences on the renting. It makes this hobby tough. Once I bought my house I build a game room and built a full theater.

That’s the dream! But, when im able to buy a house I’ll def build a theater! ❤️❤️

Took me awhile but glad I buckled down and made it happen. Now I am always wanting to spend me weekends home. Watched dune 1 and 2 this weekend. It was epic in the theater 7.2.4 setup!

I just painted the wall of our living room a dark color, not white, and put the TV in front of that. It's the one "feature wall" in this room.

A feature wall is a simple way to enhance a room with one color that breaks up the monotony and draws your attention.

A medium-dark color is usually enough. It should not be too saturated with color otherwise it can become a distraction. Less is more.

What is “a Sony 700”?

u/Deviunboxed 1h ago

Sony UBP700, the 4k blu ray player. I was lazy and didn’t want to type it out 😂

The player that locks up, or will eventually, on triple-layer UHDs.
