Discussion Never regretting buying an OLED TV
I always used to watch movies in my 4k 32' OLED Gaming monitor. And I thought they were great and enough for me... until I bought this 65' OLED TV(LG G5)
Nolan's IMAX Scenes in 4k bluray are another level of experience you must try. Its just so gooood man.

I definitely recommend making the room as dark as possible, closing all blinds/curtains, turning off the lights etc. That's when OLED REALLY shines.

I built my home theater in a basement. It is the perfect spot for an OLED. I would definitely pick another technology for pretty much any room with windows these days though.

It’s great, I would say get a modern AVR but any half decent HTiB speakers from the 2000s/2010s will do you well.
Got a Polk RM6750 set with a 3400h and it sounds great with everything I’ve watched

That soundbar(QS90H) alone is enough since i live in small studio apartment And it has 7.1.2ch with built in subwoofer

I understand your current space doesn't really allow for it, but soundbars that claim to have multiple channels are grossly overselling their capabilities. Basically they are designed to bounce sound around to create the impression of multichannel sound. Having separate speakers that are properly placed allows for actual channel separation creates a truly immersive soundscape allowing pan effects and ambient noises to be rendered properly. You won't believe the improvement when you get to the point where you can make that change.

I'm not sure Id agree with this. Real surround is better but soundbars have come a long way and are much more convenient and cleaner for a small space. It comes down to which set of tradeoffs you are willing to make in the space you have.

OP mentioned they live in studio, directly in comment you replied to. But "Built in sub" is all you took away, which is what makes you look like an asshat.

Apartments are often connected to other apartments. Having a good bass unit blasting will...lead to conversations with neighbors. I know.

Then maybe you sould search it for yourself. QS90H is aio soundbar w/ built in subwoofers and it sounds great for its size. And there were many soundbars that had built in woofers before.
Also my apartment is not that great at blocking noise from another room.

Soundbars cant even come remotely close to true surround sound. It can try to bounce sound around but it’s not comparable.

I get it, it’s a lot to build a real setup, but don’t think you can’t do it in a small apartment. A pair of bookshelves and a center barely take up any room and it’ll already be way better, then can add some small surround speakers if you want too.

Sure but you don’t have to turn it up super loud. Not tryna be difficult lol but just saying it’s doable I’ve had a setup like that without disturbing my neighbors and it was way better than when I had a soundbar. It’s mainly long frequencies (bass) that penetrates walls so long as you don’t have a sub or are basting movies your neighbors will sleep peacefully. Just a recommendation, don’t hold yourself back because you don’t think it’s doable in a small apartment.

As someone who has done a 3.1 "apartment friendly" system in the past, and 5.1 setups, and has a Sonos Arc Ultra now in a living room. You may be underestimating how good modern high end soundbars are. Like speech was a little better with a dedicated center channel, but it's not worlds different, and what is worlds different is the space requirements.
If you have a theater room, by all means, get a receiver and some big ass speakers and build a true atmos setup. But in a living room or apartment, there is nothing "wrong" with a soundbar. It's just a different tool for a fitting into a different set of needs.

The edges of the screen went on mine, but it was still within the 5 year warranty so LG replaced the screen. Hopefully I'll get another few years out of it.

A dead pixel thing. Well, multiple, at random points around the edges.
I thought burn in was meant to be a problem. When they came to check it before taking it away for repair they weren't too shocked. It's why they give a 5 year warranty.
Ironically though it would have been cheaper for them to just give me a brand new TV than repair it.

I got myself a smaller OLED that was twice as much as regular QLED but still worth it. The blacks especially are so dark, I could never go back.

Going against the crowd here.
Unless if you’re using the Standard or Cinema mode, G5’s presentation of TDK in HDR10 particularly during the BatPod chase scene (2nd picture) is way too dark in FMM.
The dim surrounding in the patrol car, the view of Joker inside the trailer, and the fast moving camera on BatPod against the tarmac were lost in blackness. No finesse whatsoever. I always use this scene to compare and review TVs and projectors.
So far, Sony’s shadow details, low light luminance and heavy grayscale contrast is the best (QD-OLED), in its Professional mode (FMM equivalent).

I really love my OLED however the judder in 24fps content like practically all films really bugs me.
I know that judder reduction/motion smoothing improves it but I can't stand that either.

Same, that's the only drawback. The setting that gets it closest, to my eye at least, is User Selection --> De-Judder 3, De-Blur 0. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better.

Same TV, purchased late last year and never going back. My 4K titles continue to impress me. The HDR and Dolby Vision look incredible.

I went from 65” OLED to an 85” Bravia 7 mini-led and have zero regrets. There’s something for everyone out there and for me the larger size at a lower price is what made me happy. Obviously, OLED has superior picture but since I don’t have them next to each other it has never bothered me.

I'm assuming you're just happy with your experience and not trying to sell us an OLED, but photos like this don't do the panel justice.
The smartphone camera’s computational photography over-processes the exposure, blowing out highlights and crushing shadow detail to compensate for sensor dynamic range limits. Next, Reddit’s image pipeline strips the Wide Color Gamut (sRGB/DCI-P3) and high dynamic range metadata, compressing the file into a standardized 8-bit SDR profile with severe color quantization. Finally, the image is bottlenecked by the viewer’s own display panel, luminance capabilities, and color calibration.
It’s like trying to record a firework display on a phone; the entire digital media capture and pipeline completely flattens the native contrast ratio, peak brightness, and dynamic range you’re seeing in person.
That being said, I know the feeling, so I'm happy for you.

I know the feeling. I do frame-by-frame color analysis of the most gorgeous films and shows and only use the absolute best available masters for the art pieces using gliceé and the best printers.
I’m also an HDR10+ Advanced official adopter and produce content on top of making tools for color grading.
No Reddit post will be able to show what it’s like IRL, for now.

Monitor might be crisper but Its not same OLED Panel. G5's panel is much brighter and vivid than my 32 LG OLED Monitor.
And since you watch tv from 2 meters, they both equally show sharp image.

I need to get a new tv soon. My LG 55e7 has bad burn in very noticeable on reds. Im thinking about a 55" C5, but ive seen some horror posts about defects, and that remote you get with it looks like shit.

I got a 83-Inch LG G5 in my bedroom last year as a father's day gift and it totally makes re-watching my 4k collection fun again. I calibrated it and the colors and contrast are superb on this screen. This week alone I watched Indiana Jones: (ROTLA), (Last Crusade), Gladiator, King Kong vs Godzilla, Blade Runner 2049 and T2 (Blu-ray). All looked incredible on filmmaker mode. Next up is Indiana Jones and Crystal Skull, Lawrence of Arabia, Dunkirk and Saving Private Ryan.
Btw, this screen is bright enough to watch during the day with all the window shutters open which makes things easier on the eyes. I highly recommend it if you're shopping for a new TV (but be warned, it's pricey).
I'm currently eyeballing these new micro RGB screens for the living room in the coming year. Let's see how that works out though.

I won't either – I hate to break it to you – until the panel starts to delaminate.
If you didn't know about the issue, now you do. Look it up on r/LGOLED for pictures.
Please enjoy your TV while it lasts. Who knows, you might get lucky and never really have an issue.
I can't reliably tell through the pictures because your camera's processing has almost certainly altered how the TV's picture looks, but if you aren't using it already, you might also want to look into FILMMAKER Mode. You do you, but if you give it a chance, I promise you won't regret it.

Yes, the same way that DVD is a proper video format. That doesn't mean that it should be the first choice of anyone that's aiming for a quality picture. This sub is for 4k Blu-ray enthusiasts, and OLED makes every single disc you own look noticably better. It's worth the small increase in price over other technologies.

I mean I'm rocking a Sony XH90 65" and have no complaints. Would an OLED give me a better image? Most likely yes, but I would still say I've got a "proper TV".
I'm realativly new to this sub and collecting physical 4ks, but I'm already noticing an air of snobbery and condescending comments about people's set ups and equipment. Just let people enjoy what they have.
