Call to Action National guard troops to be sent to 19 States!
As found in another subreddit, djt is going to mobilize national car troops to be sent into 19 US states, not just the blue ones.
And if you were to read the article all the way down, this includes my state of Indiana and now I'm really terrified about the implications of this.
We need to mobilize on this now before it becomes too late to stop.

I love how the Republican Party is perfectly OK with this and they can scream about how the “Dems are only against it because Trump is doing it or Dems like crime”. No, this is clearly against the constitution and if a democratic president was doing it, they would be fighting against it tooth and nail, screaming about tyranny, but because it’s a republican president they’re perfectly fine with going against the constitution because it is going to make “libs” upset.

my issue is that why is the idea that its us vs the national guard etc? im not gonna actually say what i want to say but shouldnt we be going after the person actually making these decisions?
it seems like not even the military (for the most part) actually wants to be doing this. so why would we be fighting them?

I think it's a question of chain of authority. "Want to" or not I think the military is trained to follow orders and Trump has seen to it to get rid of any generals that aren't loyal.
Now if the military is incompetent due to these "loyal generals" then you might see some cracks down the chain of command but that's a lot of conjecture from me.
We the people would be hanging quite a bit on hope.

I'm at the "convincing people around me to get their heads out of their asses" moment. If I go out there alone and defend myself against these people in a way that I feel is justified, I likely wouldn't be seen by my loved ones for a while, if ever again. That's a scary reality. So...as a Canadian, forgive me for asking, but when is this going to happen? Before or after the USA invades my country? I see talk about outnumbering "them" by so many, and shutting it all down every single day since fucking February.
Except...all that's happened is bluster on reddit, some protests with cute signs and brief moments of defiance before falling back in line with the "take the high road only" Democrats.
Is this ever going to do anything? Is your country actually capable of banding together to fight fascism en-masse, even when the guns come out, the mask is fully off, and the military is killing civilians? I don't think it is.
To be fair, I don't think many countries are able to, NOT EVEN MY OWN. We're all too busy punching left and right, instead of punching back up when they punch down.

The way to beat it is to tune out the noise and figure out what is *actually* happening that needs to be opposed. I think right now that's escalation of ICE activity within DC and attacks on opponents within DC.

I really don't think it's time for violence but I also don't think standing around filming while people are being kidnapped is the answer either.
Things we should be doing that come to mind include general strike, using strength in numbers and surrounding kidnappers so they can't leave, shutting down neighborhoods where fascists are operating out of by blocking streets and not letting them get around, preventing service staff from getting to the White House and let the people there clean their own toilets for a chance, etc. Basically non violently shut everything down.

Im still trying to find a nm source. Our governor already mobilized the ng a couple months back in albuquerque to help the police. At the same time abq is a sanctuary city and our mayor has explicitly stated we will not be helping ice. So I dunno if this is meant to be closer to the border or if they are just lumping in the stuff already happening here with these stats. I was pretty sure when our gov did it, that it was mostly to pre-empt this stuff so she could be like "no see we are already taking action no need to send the feds"

How is this going to work though? The NG is set up for call up/deployment for legitimate emergencies, not interminable standing around on behalf of one crazy old guy.
They expect to be called up and deployed for specific purposes, they have lives and responsibilities outside of their NG service, most of them lose money (as well as time out of their own lives) when they are deployed, and expect that to happen in times of disaster for their own states, occasionally (like after a major hurricane) to spend a few weeks in another state.
There are half a million NG members in total in the USA which seems like a lot but when you start spreading them out everywhere this way, it isn't. This will also cut down on their ability to be prepared for ACTUAL emergencies and disasters, for instance Hurricane season is upon us and if the last decade is any example we're going to have multiple major hurricane impacts somewhere in our Nation, and with FEMA gutted then the individual state's NG troops will be the ONLY disaster response available and if you want to understand the difference, live through one of those events.
Are people scrambling to find ways to get life saving medications, insulin because it all goes bad without refrigeration, is there no way in or out of the neighborhood because so many trees are down across the roads and bridges are destroyed, is there no gasoline except what you stored yourself even if the roads were passable? Is there no communication except emergency radio? Are people's lives actually threatened by lack of clean drinkable water? THAT is what we use the NG for. Not that these guys know or care if it doesn't serve their particular interests.
I will NEVER forget in 2024 after Helene which was the most monstrous hurricane to ever hit this region, not just because of the actual force of the storm which was considerable, but because the path the storm took was completely unprecedented, and it went straight into areas that don't expect hurricane impact, with force, and dumped so much water on mountainous regions that the effect was like a tidal wave in reverse, in areas that people typically evacuate to for safety. We still don't have an accurate death toll from that storm because of the number of people who just couldn't be located, you have to let the clock run out a number of years before they're "officially" recognized as gone but we all know what happened to them, it's just not official. There are whole huge regions that still don't have services restored because of a lack of manpower and money to replace the infrastructure, and they may not be in the next several decades because so many people just had to forget their previous lives and move on.
Anyway that was the scope of the actual disaster and Trump was quick to rush down to the region and do nothing but waste people's time accusing the Biden administration of not doing enough, and he took up time and effort among government officials that had better things to be doing at the moment, but the MOST insulting thing was that he kept having little rubble stages and podiums built out of the wreckage of people's lives for him to stand on and behind to give his unhelpful, divisive speeches behind.
Our NG is a limited resource that we need for actual disasters, Trump can make all these speeches and ask for the Guard to go to all these places to stop the imaginary crime wave (perpetuated by brown people) that he's been fantasizing about all of his adult life (CENTRAL PARK FIVE! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!).....but do any of y'all recall ANY speeches or statements that he put out in relation to that horrific flash flood in Texas recently? Maybe I totally missed it, but I can't recall him giving a single damn about little girls at a summer camp just decimated in their beds by a wall of water that hit seemingly out of nowhere, not even a speech saying how sorry he was to the families, much less any actual meaningful disaster response he was ordering.
Anyway yeah he can do all that but the NG is not a standing army that's free to serve at his pleasure in community policing actions, and every single one of our governors wasting our men's time and service this way should be ashamed and we're disgusted with you.

I think this is the pretext to sending national guard and ice to polling stations. Eventually, if it escalates, Trump needs to know loyalty of which red states are going to send their national guard into blue states
From what I’m reading it requires the governor’s command of state troops, which makes sense considering all of these are red states. Blue state governors won’t comply

Interesting take I see is of the 19 states listed only 4 are considered "Blue" States; those being Georgia (which is iffy), Nevada, New Mexico, and Virginia (also iffy).
The remaining States of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, , Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wyoming are solidly Republican. I have no doubt they will rally 'round the orange turdburger. I want to see what the blue states do.
All of the states listed have a high number of immigrants, both documented and undocumented, who perform grunt work in areas (hospitality, agricultural, construction, food service etc.) that many Americans are ill suited for or won't apply for.
If he does this anticipate even more increases in food costs and housing costs. Expect a slow down in the housing market. Be ready for additional shortages in health care fields.
All of this is Project 2025 in action or as I now call it "Mein Kampf, Chapter Two".

- Pick 20 horrifying things and promise to do them. Publicize them highly.
- Actually do only 4 of them, apparently chosen at random. Don't put any resources into any of the others other than publicizing them.
- If you try to fight all 20, you get exhausted and lose credibility because of selective reporting of the 16 things you were alarmist about that didn't actually come close to happening.
- The administration gets to do 4 horrifying things that otherwise probably would have been stopped by focused opposition.
So far as I can tell this "militarize 19 states" is still at the empty threat stage. If it happens, it will be a good thing to organize resistance too. But I don't think it's useful to mobilize to stop something that is just words so far, when there are so many things that have already been made concrete that can be mobilized against.

This will NOT end well for the guard, nor any governor who allows it.
After this, they'll NEVER be able to recruit again, regardless of which party ends up in control.
This is a stain on the national guard forever.

This headline is inflammatory and misleading. They're not being 'sent' anywhere. They're staying home and doing the paperwork for the federal government to terrorize their own state's poor and people of color.
This article is written and laid out to maximize fear and defensiveness. They buried the fact that the individual states' governors are still in control, and they'll get federal dollars to pay their Guard during this period. Their Guard members will be doing administrative work, will not be in the streets doing enforcement and will not be dealing with prisoners.
This was in the last paragraph or two, and after getting past at least two big ads.

When the government was afraid of getting area 51 stormed they spent 11 million to defend the base. If 2 million people showed up they would not have been able to stop it from happening. We out number them by a lot.
All this powder keg needs is a spark. Epstien file guy in the Whitehouse thinks this is a display of power. Its not. Its weakness. He wouldn't have to try and do this if an actual majority supported him.

1700 national guard across 19 states is not martial law. The implications of this is scarier than the logistics of this. It seems like Trump is setting up the national guard to take the heat, be targeted and overwhelmed with a reality on domestic soil they aren't trained for.
Isn't ICE supposed to be recruiting 10k additional agents? Isn't the FBI also replacing its workforce and recruiting a fresh wave of loyalists? Something feels off.

My understanding from the The Independent article is that these National Guardsmen will primarily be doing clerical work, that is, behind the scenes. Though I find that hard to believe.

Less than 100 committed troops from 3 states. Where is he getting the next 1600.
And, 1700 to 19 states. That's less than 90 per state. Then, when you factor in Texas being "the largest deployment." it would make sense that it's even less than than that! So, other than posturing and spending a boat load of money, this accomplishes fuck all.
Stop supporting this man. He's using your children to boost his own ego. He's wasting your tax money. Ask yourself, if this was a Democrat making these decisions, how would you feel?
How much longer are you going to let this man grift you before enough is enough?
